Otome Yokai Zakuro :an alternate version ?
The series is set in the Meiji period of an alternate version of Japan, where normal humans and yōkai co-exist. To maintain harmony between the two races, the government has set up a Ministry of Yōkai to deal with any problems that occur. The staff consists of both humans and yōkai, as well as Zakuro, who is half-human and half-yōkai.

    Very enjoyable and engaging
From my understand, this anime is based on a manga. I am unfamiliar with the manga and therefore must judge the anime on its own merits. I certainly enjoyed the first episode. I found myself laughing along and enjoying the characters and their interaction. The story is very intriguing as well. The Meiji Restoration is was an intense period of change in Japanese history and to have spirits walk ...

the main character,Zakuro is strong willed girl
    with mysterious,
    and i think sad past.
town people really don't like them (half spirit girls)
    but they're holding on,
    and fighting against evil-and now,
with a "help" from military boys...>>....

Zakutto ikimasu! Pretty art but "meh" story.
Zakuro is for those that enjoy shojo anime with some light battle sequences and tsundere girls. I had high hopes for this show after watching the first episode - the style is great and has a beautiful color palette, the characters are charming, and the animation is pretty good. I have watched up to episode 9 so far and unfortunately feel that the series has been dragging its feet along with ...

    Hasn't Sold Out, Deliberately Excellent
I read the write-up in the crunchyroll newsletter on this. My first concern was that, having an off-the-beaten-path storyline and being target for older audiences, it would try to pad out it's general appeal with gratuitous, cheap fan service (stealing animation dollars from the stuff with substance.) That is not the case.

So far, I've watched four episode. The character and plot ...

    Surprisingly Good! (:
To be brutally honest guys, I really thought this show was going to suck, but after I gave it a chance later on..I found out it was really kick ass! the characters, the plot, and even the music was really good. I love how each character actually has a role in the story! unlike other animes that just have them there..to just be there. Each one is unique and different and has a very enduring ...

I understand why this anime is popular
I only watched 11 episodes and I noticed this anime is reflecting society of Japan. Even humans who are a little bit different from average Japanese are discriminated at schools and in society. Because of this fact, these young officers of imperial army are trying to understand yojin and yojin are also trying to understand normal people. This might be the main theme of this anime. Anyway, ...

    Spirit-Filled Love and More
Watching Otome Yokai Zakuro was immensely entertaining for me because of the awesome storyline and magnificent characters. From the beginning, I could tell this anime was worthwhile since the story started off with a group of three military men who is forced join forces with four half-spirit girls in order to restore peace between humanity and the supernatural world. Although the plot seems simple ...

Best anime I've watched in ages.
Honestly speaking, I never expected to like this so much.
It's just too bad that the series already ended.

It's not like other shoujo animes where the girl is protected by the guy. It's actually the other way around.
Zakuro is a headstrong girl. She pretty much portrays a modern girl that won't let the discriminating looks from society get to her just because she's different.
    Plus, watching ...

  • OMG! I never thought in a gazillion years ...
... that I'd start following something so randomly and I'd thoroughly enjoy it. That hasn't happened since I started really digging into Osamu Tezuka's work.

I've since started branching off, but in the spirit of how I (ignorantly) stumbled upon his greatness is how I found OYZ. I simply looked at the art on the cover ad ... all the things that I look for as an artist was there (i.e. ...
