    Just play the actual game
This anime is nothing but a worse done version of a game's story that is at least 10x more enjoyable by playing the actual game itself; whose graphics, animations, and character building are all far superior to this.
This is just a waste of time...

    Just play the game...
I'm two episodes in and not very impressed. Disappointing as this is one of the better games I've ever played.

It's overly strict to the game, which makes it seem somehow rigid. The mostly silent protagonist angle doesn't work as well in a show, and the animation isn't much of a step up at all from what you see playing Persona 5.

the first 24 minutes are the first 2 hours of the game
As the title suggests, the first episode covers 1 and a half to 2 hours of the game.
This episode was quite well paced for how much they had to cram in and left just as much information as the game itself. That's right zero. Like most persona games you will probably not get much context, exposition or emotions for the characters just yet. Lets give it a couple more episodes.

I don't hate this anime adaptation; its just not done well.
This is written after four episodes.
For one, I beat the game last summer. For another, I don't hate this adaptation. I don't at all. I like that the anime relatively looks like game relatively. Aniplex is doing a good job with animation. The voices are spot on (same voice actors) and the like. Where could it go wrong? For one, I feel like this is fan service. The first two episodes felt like ...

Don't give up after 1 episode!
Starting off this reminds me greatly of Persona 4 the Animation. When it comes to working with the source material, it's pacing is different, but that isn't a bad thing at all. The Persona games are long games with a ton of content so pacing has to be different or the show would never end like Naruto. The first episode gives roughly the same amount of information about the plot and story as the ...

Edited following episode 2. They were holding out on us!
Okay, THAT'S more like it. I don't know why Aniplex was holding out on us for the first episode! I don't know, maybe the production studio didn't have all the team together for the first ep? It's weird, but episode 2 takes a MASSIVE jump in production quality.
The Persona series, and ESPECIALLY Persona 5 have been known for having awesome art direction, style, and album-worthy music... and while ...

Plot looks to be fabulous but HOLY GOD SLOW DOWN
I’ve been wanting to play the game but I don’t have the time so I’ve been waiting for this anime. The main character is quite a fine looking one and the Introduction to the plot looked good. HOWEVER! So much information and sudden scene changes occur that I don’t understand what they are trying to tell me. I will give it a chance though and see more episodes because as I said PLOT LOOKS FABULOUS

    Just pointless overall
I was hyped for it, but this anime has no reason to exist.
It's Persona 5 without the immersion, lower production quality and zero character depth.

Yes, making a game like P5 into a decent anime is very challenging. But this is just a joke. Play the game instead. Because if you haven't, this will not provide a proper representation of the story.

    Play the game instead.
This is a painfully mediocre adaptation of a fantastic game. It's amazing how A1 Pictures can take such a fun game with such a unique style like Persona 5 and make such a painfully mediocre and boring adaptation of it.

Mother's Basement highlights the problems with it very well so just watch this if you want an idea:

It's not the worst anime ever, ...

  • Hard to recommend unless you don't have a PS4
Like it says, it's hard to recommend people watch this unless they just can't play the game for some reason. Like any adaption of this nature, it's really hard to actually adapt a game (especially an RPG) into a show in a pretty much 1:1 way without it feeling redundant. You take the element of player agency which drives the plot and makes things compelling in the game only to replace it ...
