  • Did we really need an anime adaption?
Truth be told, I love this game series but the animation is... stale at best.

Persona 5 is a great game and a unique experienced that can only be conveyed in that format. This animated series for it felt rushed and incomplete in storytelling and while it did have great visuals-- it was not enough to convince me to keep following the series. A lot of the character relationship felt 'fake' in ...

  • Like watching the game on 10x speed
The anime isn't bad, but as others have pointed out its pacing is off, i.e. fast and a bit choppy, compared to the game. I would recommend the gaming experience, and maybe enjoy the anime as just an adaption, but NOT as a substitute.

One thing I do like about the show, though, is that it does retain the main plot well enough and even improves on it a bit. More specifically, it makes a certain ...

An anime that is well worth watching on its own.
Just like Persona 4A, this follows the near exact plot of the game. While some reviewers find it silly to watch rather than play, the anime does not require 130 hours, or any gaming hardware. While I still recommend you play Persona 5, it is great to see the characters you love being voiced the full way through. If you don't intend to play the game (or if you do), I would highly recommend this ...

  • Hard to recommend unless you don't have a PS4
Like it says, it's hard to recommend people watch this unless they just can't play the game for some reason. Like any adaption of this nature, it's really hard to actually adapt a game (especially an RPG) into a show in a pretty much 1:1 way without it feeling redundant. You take the element of player agency which drives the plot and makes things compelling in the game only to replace it ...

  • Spoken from a Newbie
Note: I never played persona 5, and I hadn't beaten persona 4 before this review. So, keep in mind that this is just an opinion.

If you never played this game, you may like the series and forgive the flaws. Unfortunately, I wouldn't call it flaws. It's basically, an advertisement anime for the game. We've seen this type of anime before, and it's purpose is not to please people who already ...

  • I'd only watch this if you played the game
I can only recommend watching this if you have already played persona 5. It's not bad, but it doesn't do the game justice. The stylistic, beautiful visuals of the game are lost in this adaptation which sometimes comes across as downright lazy. Pacing is also an issue, but that comes from the fact that they had to compress 100+ hours of game play into an anime. As a result of this, some of the ...

so many good things about the anime
I've finished the game a couple months ago and it quickly became one of my most favorite games. When I heard an anime adaptation was going to happen, I was beyond excited and I was not disappointed. The animation quality was a LOT better than expected and kept the game's art aesthetic closely. The story so far also closely follows the game although I'm excited to see where it might differentiate ...

    Just play the actual game
This anime is nothing but a worse done version of a game's story that is at least 10x more enjoyable by playing the actual game itself; whose graphics, animations, and character building are all far superior to this.
This is just a waste of time...

    Just pointless overall
I was hyped for it, but this anime has no reason to exist.
It's Persona 5 without the immersion, lower production quality and zero character depth.

Yes, making a game like P5 into a decent anime is very challenging. But this is just a joke. Play the game instead. Because if you haven't, this will not provide a proper representation of the story.

I don't hate this anime adaptation; its just not done well.
This is written after four episodes.
For one, I beat the game last summer. For another, I don't hate this adaptation. I don't at all. I like that the anime relatively looks like game relatively. Aniplex is doing a good job with animation. The voices are spot on (same voice actors) and the like. Where could it go wrong? For one, I feel like this is fan service. The first two episodes felt like ...
