Queen's Blade

The first season of Queen's Blade can be summed up in three words: Jugs a' Bouncin'. It's basically about a tournament being held to determine the Queen for the next 10 years.

Season 1 concentrates mostly on character introduction and development. The characters vary wildly from great to silly, but in general are fairly good. Other than the character development there really is nothing else to this anime. The Action sequences are short and introductory, meant to be concluded in the actual tournament.

The sheer amount of fanservice borders on the absurd and drowns out everything else. Eventually between torn clothing and Double-Z cleavage you'll wonder where this story is going. The Answer is: Nowhere, yet. If you can put up with the fanservice for the First Season, the Second Season is quite good and action packed, and you need the First for the Second to make any sense.

The Animation is excellent, of course, to show off all the echiness.

Overall, it is entertaining and that is all that counts. You should watch it before you get to the Second Season. But, if you are into massive breasts and torn clothes, this is definitely the show for you.

I would like to say, for the record, I have no problem with mostly naked women fighting as their armor gets shredded. If people really like watching that, that's fine. I understand the nature of a turn on, and yes, as a woman, I know why it is hot, and I agree that it is hot. However, let's not pretend that this is an excuse to call a series good, and Queen's Blade is simply terrible.

Think about the source material, if you will. Queen's Blade is based off of a series of erotic art books that some how pass as a "game." What I know about these books, because my local game shop has them, is that there is very little focus on the game in these books; the focus is on the women, their nakedness, and sex. That's it, these books are all about sex. And again, that's fine, let's just be honest.

My problem with this show is that it is trying to be a show and failing. Story? In what universe does this story make sense? A tournament to decide a Queen... and then, huh? Yeah that's right; I've seen Swiss cheese with fewer holes than this plot. And characters? These aren't characters, they are un-fleshed-out archetypes with no personality at all because there is no need for that. The creators of this show obviously think that the people watching it are just fapping away, so any attempt to say that the story or the characters are worthwhile is just lying to yourself. Admit that you are really only watching this because it's almost porn. And if that is your motivation, then I respect that, just be honest about it. But still, think about the quality of what you are watching.

And while the character designs might be your thing, let's not pretend this is well animated. This is choppy and quickly done, and again, I think it is done because the creators think that the target audience for this does not care about quality. And if you are in that target audience, if I were you, I'd be angry and a lot insulted. Same thing goes for the music, which is at best, forgettable.

So why did I watch this? Well I was led to believe that this series had "Yuri" potential, and as a Yaoi and Yuri fangirl, I watch anything with Yaoi and Yuri hints, and I am often disappointed. I went into this expecting a lot of T&A, but I also expected a story, developed characters (and I'm not talking about breast size here), and the various other things I demand out of my anime, regardless of whether or not it is trying to turn me on. There was nothing here to like. When the art looks better in stills than it does in animation, you know that something is wrong and you have been cheated.

And that leads me to my final point. Queen's Blade is boring. There is no edge of your seat action and once you are done being turned on, you will find the next 18 minutes of the show tedious and dull. Just because something is erotic or a turn on, doesn't mean it should be boring. Do yourselves a favor and demand better from your media, and don't watch this show. There's a ton of other erotic animes out there that at least make an attempt at a plausible story with interesting characters, but this isn't one of them. Pass on Queen's Blade.

Well I have been wanting to see this series every since I stumbled upon some images of the game book on google,I looked up info about it and was interested.I finally got to watch the first four episodes and have come to one conclusion.....Boobs! and more Boobs!.This show obviously tells you that its about fan-service and fan-service only.The story doesn't really hold any substance and there's no true villian that i've seen yet.Ok the-r fighting to become queen...queen of what?!....and is there a King?!....the music is forgettable,and the story is faded.But I am a fan of big boobs and this show does it justice!!!!!!....there's more nudity in these four episodes than i've seen in most ecchi shows.The characters are designed pretty cool though and have weird abilities.I'd say if you like tits,then this show is for you...if you want a deeper story and plot go elsewhere.I give it 10/out of 10 just for the boobs...lol.

Given this anime is based on a tabletop game that uses erotic pin up art to represent it's characters, the shows biggest, and perhaps most ironic, flaw may be that it is trying to tell a compelling story, when the obvious reality of the series is blatant fan service. And that wouldn't really a bad thing, except that because of the severe overdose of fan service QB has, it kind of makes the whole attempt to tell a "serious" story merely a joke. The show does have it's moments of comedy, but not any more then the usual for an anime.
The plot itself is basically that of taking the concept for a tournament game and making it into an actual world were people live.(Read the show synopsis on the main page.) It's not a new concept, and probably done better elsewhere, but it's still one that could have made for a fun anime if it only didn't try and take itself so seriously in it's story telling. It really just tries to be something it's not, and comes across as merely a half hearted mediocre fantasy anime with some "massive" sex appeal.

It may still be worth checking out for yourself, if you are not too put off by animated jubblies, but as said, the fan service pretty much overshadows the actual lackluster plot.

Every female character has BIG BOOB, as much as i hate crappy story, what i hate the most are stories drawing in people who have interest an interest for BIG BREST character. Everything just fall apart, i couldn't even watch past after the defeat of the Acid BIG BREAST Witch. I would have overlook the breast character because story plot itself seems more interested then the character that was used for the story, however; character and the event can't coexist with each other.

I found this to be much better than I expected. I read several reviews and was not impressed. That just goes to show to follow your own path. I found the story of Leina to be extremely enjoyable at her honest and sincere approach to life. I have watched both the first and second season's and am now watching the third. The relations between the three sisters are interesting to watch and see how each of them in their own ways truly love Leina and are rooting for her success Elina has an odd obsession almost possessive love for Leina while on the other Claudette loves her much more after the duel in which she lost in ep 9 in season 2. Not that she did not love her but that she always was a little jealous of her since her mother was not the same and Leina's and the father chose Leina to be the successor of the family. I hope that CR will choose to add the other seasons to their collection.

And yes there is a lot of fan service and their boobs are large but I think that Cattleya's where the hugest by far. But I am frank and rather enjoy the anime's generous, amount of naked flesh.

As a woman and a feminist, I really enjoy this anime. At first glance, it just seems like another ecchi fan-service filled with barely-clothed women with lewd, shameless, fighting. After the first episode, I quickly realized how the women in this anime were portrayed with courage and strength alongside with their beauty. As the episodes progressed, I was impressed about how each female character was very strong in her own way.

Overall, the female characters in this anime are very positively portrayed. They come with a multitude of personalities, from the loudly expressive to the honorably modest. Not only is the variety of personalities expansive, but also the breast size. The women characters have a range of large and small chested and ALL are portrayed as strong, courageous, and beautiful.

Also, the art and music in this anime is fantastic! The storyline is also well-executed and has moments of cute humor. And I have to admit, I do enjoy how the male characters are portrayed as far inferior to the women in this anime!!

Queen's Blade is what I like to call "Light Hentai."

You see, I call it that, but the writers' tend to have a different image on whatever the heck they just made. I'm not a feminist, nor am I gay, so you'd think that I'd be okay watching this. But I'm actually somewhat offended by the multiple amount of scenes that they added in here that are completely irrelevant and unnecessarily ostentatious.

Storyline .5/5

So, it's like this: Our main protagonist, Leina, which I will refer to as MC (short for Main Character), is a participant in the "Queen's Blade Tourney". Already, we have a problem though, because it's safe to say that she's almost as useless from Yuna in 11eyes. So right off the bat the story is just dull because you can see that she'd be absolutely NO help whatsoever in future episodes.

But the animators prove you wrong...



It's like the writers can't decide whether or not they want this to be serious. Me, being a completely biased person when it comes to story, I felt insulted that I had sat through the show's horrible excuses of characters and arcs. I was about to give up and go watch Durarara!! naked. Actually, I did give up, but I just skipped to the final episode of it. Which, once again, they prove that Leina's a stupid useless MC.

Music .5/5

The music feels ripped straight from a Saturday cartoon about 2 kawaii kids having the dumbest adventure of a lifetime. I mean, like, seriously? Oh, and since we're on the topic of "Audio", the English dub sucked. Don't even look for it. If you hear anyone watching it, run away with your ear chopped of like Van Gogh. I swear to God, the first time I heard it, I cringed. As a matter of fact, it was so bad, I wanted to take a staple gun and shoot my brains out.

Characters - 4/5

Now, I'll be honest. The ONLY character that got my attention was the samurai lady introduced in the 2nd episode. She seems to be the only character that doesn't get bashed and stripped every 2 seconds (which, for some odd reason, happens commonly). No, wait. I like EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER EXCEPT FOR LEINA. Yup... no joke.

Animation - 5/5

Far into the series you'll realize that the animation is nothing special. But there's something that needlessly pops up every 5 minutes. Considering this is an Ecchi I guess they did something right...
