  • Read or Die, or how an anime show tried to make bookworms powerful.
It took me until the end of the first half of this series to realize I was watching a sequel to an OVA. Now I've herd of R.O.D. before but I've never seen it, I was originally under the impression that this was just a television remake of the OVA like how some series out there go down that path.

But yeah I was wrong, when they did a recap episode and started dropping a TON of plot about a lot ...

    Fell apart at the end.
It started off a good 3-4 stars. Good job done on the characters. The sisters dynamic was great. Not really much of any plot to it from the start, just an interesting anime.

The problem was the ending, where they started introducing the plot. starting around episode 20, it just became ridiculous. The dialogue fell apart, there were tons of plot holes, and "twists" were tossed into the plot in a ...

    I love re-watching this series!!
I love everything about this series. The music stands out to me, as well as the innovation to use paper as a super power, and no it's not as lame as I make it sound.

Anyway, I saw the OVA first and fell in love with the characters there. I jumped at the chance to watch the series and was (pleasantly) surprised to see the deviation from the OVA story. I really liked the fact that they converged ...

    Did I miss something?
I really had a hard time watching this series. Had to force myself to continue seeing the next episode. The Intro really makes it seem like it is action packed but its only in a handful of episodes. The 4 main characters were very likeable. Nenene is sort of just mean, but thats ok cause its like "love mean". I especially liked Maggie but it was hard to figure out her character cause she dressed ...

An OK watch, but look out for plotholes
I had watched the OVA many years ago. It was a fun watch, though there was a lot left out. Happening upon the series on CR, I took the opportunity to watch it (and midway through, had to go back and re-watch the OVA).

So the animation is top side of average with some particularly nice visuals here and there. It was not spectacular (there were no real artistic flairs that jumped out at me) but ...

This is one of my Favorite animes!
I love this series it continues to be one of my favs year after year. It revolves around three paper sisters (two of them major bibliomaniacs) who can control paper. These sisters are hired to complete secret missions given that they posses a power that very few have or even know about. Through out the series they fight against a secret organization called the Dokusensha devoted to Chinese ...

    R.O.D. A Big Suprise
Honestly turned this on for the first time expecting very little. Watched a few minutes got bored and turned it off. Ended up coming back a little while later and gave it a chance. I'm glad I did.

R.O.D. mainly revolves around three sisters. Its more of an action and a drama than anything else. There will be moments of sadness and moments of laughs. It pulls off what it tries to do and all ...

    A surprise awesome experience!
Didn't know what to expect with ROD, but WOW! I love the use of music, the idea of paper manipulation is unique and incredible. I also really liked the use of the music during the thunderstorm downpour in the early "search" scene. It was just amazing. Where have they been hiding this anime?

Well, I am hooked now... one more series to watch.

One of the best anime titles that slips your mind.
R.O.D. also known as Read Or DIe. Based on a light novel of the same name.,This series is fantastic. It is funny, well written and engaging. It is the sequel to the three episode R.O.D. OVA (Also fantastic) which introduces us to the paper master Yomiko Readman. I highly recommend watching the OVA.

The series revolves around the "Paper sisters" who are three paper masters (They can manipulate ...

    Better Watch It 5 Times!
R.O.D. is another great anime I love watching more than twice, or even 3 times!
This story is about 3 sisters with the ability to control paper, their main objective is to be the bodyguards of famous Japanese author Nenene Sumiregawa . In the process the 3 sisters ( Maggie Mui, Michelle Cheung and Anita King) end up living with Nenene Sumiregawa. I sot of ...
