What is this show? I don't know anymore
Ever see an anime that leaves you going "what the s*** did I just see?". That's Samurai Flamenco. It is essentially a love letter to the transforming superheroes that make up Japanese lore, but it goes about it in the strangest way possible. First you think it's going to be a sad joke at the expense of the fans... then it becomes a real world take on it... then it starts taking the genre dead ...

Loved it far more in the beginning
I was actually at an anime club when I first saw Samurai Flamenco. The name turned me off to the show, but after watching the first episode I was hooked. The first six episodes were very relatable as the main character finds his path as a hero in the "regular" world. However from episode seven on, the show takes a supernatural turn with monsters, aliens, and probably more as the show goes on. ...

Samurai Flamenco has a Promising start
The animation quality is top-notch, the character designs are flawless and the dialogues are natural flowing.
Episode 1 was very enjoyable for me, this anime has a promising start; the first episode set an overall tone; "If you want to accomplish something, you have to get out there and do it" sort of message and tackled some social issues such as the issue of high school delinquents.

  • What a strange show; Let's Flamenco!
    I--

    Well--

I don't think I can really sum up this show with any sort of ease. It does its own thing, and winds up being a massive pastiche and tribute to tokusatsu shows. It goes from serious to totally goofy to really heartfelt, and has a fully bizarre conclusion.

    I think it's worth a watch, though.

  • So good... then, not so good...
I will agree with everyone else who has written a review that the first 6 episodes are AWESOME. Then it goes on some weird Power Rangers trip that I originally thought was some drug-induced dream the protagonist was having, until it kept going and going and going... It got so annoying and pointless that I had to research if it was actually worth my time to continue watching... The answer that I ...

  • guess they ran out of ideas
Refreshing and interesting until it goes from fighting realistic crimes to corny supervillain army that shows up out of nowhere. I actually thought it was going to continue in the more realistic vein until the end, but apparently they didn't have enough imagination.

This is much deeper than I thought,
than what you'd expect from a normal straight-forward anime, even it sets out with that tone in the first few episodes.

Quite a lot of people were complaining about what comes beyond Episode 6, but I beg to differ. 7-22 were totally logical, necessary, and well-paced in terms of what the anime wants to bring to the table.

This is a sophisticated piece of art that strikes a glamorous balance ...

Please don't make a second season
The first 6 episodes were great, they were more realistic yes but I really just liked the whole average guy becomes the underdog theme. After episode 7, the show jumped around way too much in both theme and plot. Also, Masayoshi is way too selfish for a protagonist. Speaking of characters, there's a few unresolved things, like Masayoshi's relationship with his assistant or ...

    Only the first Six episodes.
The first six episodes make for an awesome anime. Then comes seven and turns the whole anime on it's head for the worst. It just genre flips as if the writers went out for coffee or something and some /b/tards just ransacked the script and settings. If they cut the other 17 episodes or so; It'd be 10/10.
