  • At first I thought it was a pilot show but then it turned into something amazing.
The cover photo is misleading in that it looks like a show about fighter pilots or something. But then it turns out be a story about how one guy, who is a pretty bad hero, as he attempts to help those around him and defend justice in the community. His friendship with a local police officer starts his journey into somehow becoming a super hero. A real treat for those looking for comedy, action, ...

  • skip the middle 10 episodes if you must watch
all the crazy stuff in the middle has no bearing at all on the end... what a waste of time.

mildly amusing. ZERO character development. i watched it all just to see what happens, hoping there would be a rational explanation, but I wish i hadn't bothered. Turns out to be a deus ex machina, of course. *sigh*

the beginning was promising, the last villain was sort of interesting, but overall ...

  • It Had A Really Good Beginning
"Samurai Flamenco" was written by Hideyuki Kurata, the writer of "Bamboo Blade" and "Maria the Virgin Witch". Unfortunately unlike "Maria the Virgin Witch", "Samurai Flamenco" falls short of what the first few episodes set it up as.

The plot starts with a young model who always wanted to be a hero deciding to follow his dreams and become a hero. It starts out rough for him as he fights the ...

  • Redeeming qualities smothered in stupid.
This anime is really fun and interesting. The first 12ish episodes are great! Then real monsters start showing up and the main characters start acting stupid and it all feels like I'm watching Power Rangers reruns, which would be fine IF that had been what I signed up for. Then they're aliens and stuff. Ugh, it SOUNDS SO INTERESTING, but it was SO BAD!! Please...PLEASE for your own sake stop at ...

  • A show that didn't realize why it was good
Samurai Flamenco started out as a great show about someone who was trying to be a hero in a world that had neither heroes nor a need for them in order to fulfill his own ideals. Unfortunately, the show went on to
However, none of these arcs ...

  • Deconstruction of Japanese superhero mythos
Samurai Flamenco is eclectic. It's not going to be for everyone and doesn't try to be. In essence it is a homage to, partial deconstruction of, and actual example of popular Japanese superhero mythos... particularly mythos aimed at younger children.

Masayoshi Hazama has grown up wanting to be a superhero. His career takes him into the world of male modeling, but kick-ass style he starts to take ...

  • Inconsistent and Kind Of Disappointing
The beginning of this show was good. not great, but good. It gave the characters room to develop and a lot of directions it could go. The main character wanted to emulate the heroes he saw on TV when he was a kid and one of the big draws for the show was the clash between the real world and the fantasy world of TV Heroes. The main character had trouble reconciling the failed expectations he had ...

    Boring unlikeable characters
Couldn't make it past first episode, characters were bland and story has slow pacing. If they can't engage me in the first episode, how do they expect me to stay interested the whole season? All I kind of got a hero anime vibe from the episode, but the story definitely does not exhibit any of the attractive traits I expect in one.

  • A full hero's journey
This show takes you throughout all the stages of a guy's life of being a superhero, without any powers or anything. It is seriously worth a watch. But be warned it can be a bit dark at times in order to highlight the light even more.

    Possible Spoilers:

It takes you through his journey as he travels through each sub-genre of superhero fiction. It starts off very grounded, then you watch as ...

  • What a Waste of Artistic Talent
This series had such promise: an actor wants to make the world a better place and decides to don his own hero costume to fight crime in his city. He is joined by a cute cop and the series has the potential to be a first rate BL program. Instead it takes a turn into the just plain dumb.

I have never watched a show go from 8 out of 10 stars to 1 star so quickly. Really, don't waste your time ...
