Among the most Unique shows You could ever Hope to Watch.
This has mild spoilers by the way. Just letting those who read have a heads up!

Serial Experiments: Lain, similarly to Ghost in the Shell, explores the concept of memory and the implications of mating it with technology. In Ghost in the Shell this manifests in questions of self-hood and truth/deceit, but Lain takes it a step farther and ...

    Classic Sci-fi Masterpiece
Serial Experiments Lain is an amazing anime from the late 90's with some truly mind bending sci-fi themes. It's about a girl who receives a mysterious message and begins going on the Wired, which is somewhat an equivalent of the net. The fundamental story is about technology and the blurring of the borders between the real and online worlds. It explores exercises in surreal existentialism and ...

Enter the wired... a classic mind trip
if you like anime where there multiple layers of meaning to stretch your imagination. Then enter the wired.

take a trip through the concepts of communication, identity, reality and the fear of death. death may be the wrong word here as it is more the concept of death and what that entails. The loss of ones self from the tangible(material and physical) to the intangible (abstract). why do we ...

An original, must see classic anime
This anime, from 1998, rivals many new and old anime in terms of uniqueness. The artwork and animation is very unconventional and bizarre at times but ultimately very enjoyable.
The story is very original and sci-fi covering topics such as spirituality, technology & psychology through an alternate version of the internet called The Wired and the main character Lain. The anime's plot is ...

One of the best that I have ever seen!
This was one of the series that got me hooked on anime. A must watch for everyone! So many themes are touched on throughout this story. Lain is quiet and outwardly shy but deals with and grows so much. I'm going to binge watch this tomorrow on my day off!

  • Interesting Psychological Series
Theres a lot I didn't understand about this series, it's definitely a very abstract and symbolic show.
The main character displays a lot of symptoms of schizophrenia and I like the colors and animations shape what Lain sees. Abstractness in a series can be tricky, but with this series I think it really adds to the story following Lain.

  • Wonderfully Executed
Definitely an interesting concept, written before the world truly knew the implications of this scary thing known as the Internet, (Wired). A real intriguing take on our interconnectedness and trans-humanism. Thoroughly enjoyable as things begin to click into place as the story draws to a close. Things can be confusing at first, but if you stick with it, it's entirely worth it.
    And hey,
    Let's ...

  • SEL is truly among the best
Want something different? Something that explores psychology, philosophy, and dissociation? Want an anime that should be the prequel to the Matrix? Look no further. Serial Experiments Lain (SEL) is awesome. It delves into the psyche and existence, and asks incredibly deep questions. The landscape and animation is beautiful and intriguing. I'll be honest, I don't like the alien episode or ...

  • A genuine masterpiece
    Perfect in every way.

I don't even know what to write, the story and characters are incredibly deep and impactful, the timeline and pace of the show is frantic and convoluted but maintains a consistency that never breaks immersion.

Outside of just anime, I would say this is one of the best pieces of media ever released in any medium. The culmination of the art, writing, music and sound ...

  • An adorable girl gets lost in the woods...
...and finds out she IS the woods.

This anime's primary scenario is rooted in apprehension, fear, and despair covered up by mundane, comforting details of streets and houses, schools and old surroundings. But the dead talk to the living, the virtual and real exchange places, and home is a strange and hostile place that seems routine.

Lain, one of anime's great protagonists, wanders streets ...
