Description

Joe, a teenage orphan in the slums of the Doya streets, meets Danpei, a homeless, alcoholic ex-boxing coach. Danpei, seeing Joe's boxing talent, decides to train him. When Joe is sent to a terrible juvenile home for petty crimes, he meets Rikiishi who becomes his boxing rival. Danpei arrives at the home to help Joe to train in order to defeat Rikiishi. When Joe decides to seriously pursue boxing, Danpei cannot get a coaching license because of his reputation as a drunk.

This one is a popular classic. If you're a Ring Ni Kakero (1978) or Hajime No Ippo (1990) fan, then this is a must.

This is a very good and inspiring anime... it meant a lot when it was first created, so don't insult it! Besides, Shippuden has no charar development whatsoever. New moves, new hair, same immature brat.

foreignkidjason, look it up on anime news network, this series originally ran from 04/01/1970 until 09/29/1971 and hajime no ippo was aired 10/03/2000 until 03/27/2002. That is 30 yrs.........jackass
