Characters: The king is a big, weepy, crybaby, difficult to endure all of his teary scenes, one wants to shake him. His wife and queen is the most patient person one has ever seen, his mother the most irritating character in the drama. The various courtiers are screen-fillers. Queen Gi of the Yuan certainly has some fabulous hairdos that make her part worth watching. Pyeonjo is a puzzle, will he succumb or will he succeed? 8,000 episodes later...
The costumes are great, the cinematography wonderful, and the storyline significant. A recurring theme in these historical dramas is instigating social and institutional change. Again, it doesn't take all those episodes to convey the plot.
