    Showa Genroko isn't bad!!
Honestly I didn't know what to expect from this show I came in with low expectations and I couldn't have bin more wrong. This is a really great show so far and it has a really good story mixed with a very nice animation style. I can't wait to see more!

    Different and Refreshing
Not what I expected but in a good way. I was glued to the screen the whole time. It makes for a great break from your average anime. Showa Genroku reminds me a little of Five Leaves - but more immediately enthralling whereas Five Leaves seemed slower in developing and harder to get into

    Pleasantly surprised!
I had no idea what to expect. Every season, I try to watch the first episode of the new shows. Most I give up on mid-way thru the episode. Like another viewer I was glued to the TV. I could not stop watching because I wanted to know what happened next. This was a very pleasant surprise and I really am looking forward to the next episode.

Something new, but not for everyone
This is the type of show that only caters to its intended audience. You'll know immediately if you fall into that category. I'd just like to point out that just because they didn't aim this type of anime at you, it doesn't make it bad.

It's very well done, the characters are interesting and have depth to them. As far as I know Rakugo has never been the main focus of an anime before. Because of ...

    Riveting story telling!
I am a long time fan of Rakugo (and I was born in Showa). Every nuance, every gesture is beautifully captured. The story telling is first class. From the start, not a waisted moment in the show. Each scene leads to the next with impeccable flow and timing. I've never seen a show with such an impact from the first episode. The ending theme by Ringo Sheena makes this great show that much more ...

The perfect story about story telling
Episode one immediately sent chills down my spine. I watched it without reading the description, thinking "oh, this looks like another historical series", and I couldn't be happier about how wrong I was.

The art of Rakugo is something I had never heard of before now, and yet after only one episode I feel very familiar with it. Instead of a montage or two where we'd see the main character ...

Not for all but excellent if you can get into it
includes minor spoilers, you have been warned.
Let's get this out of the way, as others have already mentioned this is not going to appeal to everyone. It's a period piece about Rakugo, which simply put is a traditional Japanese form of stand-up comedy except the performer is sitting down and rather than tell jokes he tells a humorous story by portraying various characters. If this is appealing ...

    Refreshing Style of anime
not to sound like a hipster, but i was watching anime way before it became a popular thing among the internet. I'm 20 and have been an anime fan for as long as i can remember. (my uncle was a anime fan and i spent a lot of time over at his house watching his VHS collection of all the shows he had, witch was a lot). Having said that only 3 anime have ever left me this way. Five Leaves, ...

Rakugo is the Hidden Gem of Winter 2016!
This series is something special that doesn't come around very often at all. From the premise to the characters, to the rich storytelling, this series is very fulling and unique. I'm going to give a little run down/recommendation:

Art & Sound: The animation isn't incredible or groundbreaking, but it successfully captures the emotion of the characters, making them ...

    something different and wonderful
this isn't an over the top, high-action anime, so maybe it's not everyone's favorite.
but the characters are so deep and great, and the way they interact with each other draws you in so quickly. and the story is completely original! the visuals are also so beautiful even they are pretty toned down, and i love the setting already. i'd say this is a really cultured series so far. i'm digging ...
