hey Junkass, welcome to CR and all. I'm pinoy, and I know you speak tagalog but pls try to speak in english. This is mainly an english speaking site, so just a bit of info for you.

and about pinoy mtv.... not really.. my kind of music.

There are a lot of talented musicians in the Philippines but sadly only those that really delve to please the masses with their highly UN-creative jingles and novelty songs are the ones who become popular. The ROCK industry on the other hand had become filled with nothing but boybands singing repetitive monotonous dungheaps which are also filled with the greatest lyrics on the planet (Note for the slow: I'm being sarcastic; but not until I reached the word "greatest) that they want to pass out as songs, or filled with corporate sell-outs, song plagarizers and the whole lot who love to rock out with their paraphernalia and actually believe that Che Guevara is the manager of Red Hot Chilli Peppers (That's right, I hope you bastards die.) There's nothing proud of a lot that we are producing for mass consumption right now. There are things that we can be proud of, but I bet you'll never find it on television.

^ yeah, I agree with you there. The industry is getting saturated with all but too mediocre semi-rock alternative bands that offer nothing more than another dull sounding song backed up with a horrific band name (e.g. Mom's Cake with their cross dressing lead singer... ). The industry also reaks of Pinoy Rock Icon wannabies (e.g. Salamin trying to be like Bamboo) that it's getting really, really boring.

A few years ago, it was acoustic... which was even worse. We heard the likes of Jimmy Bondoc (and his pathetic tries at trying to sound like Stevie Wonder and his adlib singing), Paolo Santos (with his bad english and bad looks), MYMP and Nina (singing mostly remakes, which is really just... ugh).

And with videos, all the MTVs seem to be the same. It features a rather unrelated theme crossed with shots of the band singing/dancing/jumping/drinking/sleeping... etc. together in a fabricated studio or the like. It's very tiring and just... sad.

I'm glad, though, to see groups breaking the norm, like Up Dharma Down (and their interesting video... I forget the song... I'll check it up) and Radioactive Sago Project (well... actually these guys are just idiots).

Yeah! Filipino bands and artists lack originality that's why they don't stick out anymore!

i think that's just the trend. can't say we lack originality.there are alot of choices, mainstream and underground.

^ it was never a question of originality... it's a question of creativity. Apparently, the industry lacks it.

^ i guess we have creativity. i mean that's one of the factors of making people laugh, which a lot of filipino songs aim for. i think we lack diversity.

Don't Radioactive Sago Project Vids usually have subtitles to begin with? (e.g. Astro). Haha, you'd have to put the subs a bit higher, or on the top of the screen so the subs that are a part of the video can still be read. :)
