Sweet Vacation was formed in 2007.
Members are May(Vocal) and Daichi Hayakawa(Sound Produce,Key,Cho,Vocoder).
Daichi is a Japanese sound
producer, and he travels all over the world to make completely new pop music.
May is a singer and student. They met in Bangkok, Thailand, where Daichi was astonished at her charming voice and sense of creativity.
In August 2007, they put their songs up only on MySpace. They soon gained popularity, and they made the MySpace house chart in November 2007.Their first song, "I feel so good," was selected to be the iTunes “weekly free download song," which led to more access to and downloads of Sweet Vacation's music.
This song was also picked for the Yahoo Top Page, and they soon made a contract with Victor Entertainment JVC, which is one of most historical major record labels in Japan. After three months, they released their first mini album "Do the Vacation".
Not only have they made releases in Japan, but an album specifically for overseas sale entitled "Kira Kira pop" is available in Taiwan, Thailand, and Korea.
Their music is basically pop and is heavily influenced by the latest club music. It also has retro, new wave and rave essences, like Trevor Horn.
The formation of Sweet Vacation is heavily based on the idea of mixing of Asian cultures and sounds to create a new style. This new type of music is, as Daichi likes to call it, is what makes the group "future Asian."
