  • Slow in the start, but it gets going.
When I first started this, I thought it was a tad plain. But The animation was so good, the character designs were amazing, the music... the voice acting... It was all amazing, except for the plot. So I kept on watching. But after a couple episodes... The plot became was the best element; I loved it so much. The Characters- Each one were interesting, and I came invested in each one. The ...

    A Story of Exellence
Among the many stars in the sky, there's always one that shines brilliantly. But from this summer 2013 lineup, there's also series that shines among the group as well. Perhaps one series that might of slipped under some people's radar is Uchoten Kazoku. (also known as the Eccentric Family)

From P.A. Works comes forth a new anime this summer. Based on a novel written by Tomihiko Morimi (The ...

    A hidden gem, poetry animated
I began to watch this show because of wacky and clever humor. I finished it because of the intense drama and bonding of brothers that had become estranged.

There is little I can say without spoiling the atmosphere, but a tale of fantasy and ridiculousness blossoms into a tender tale of tragedy and betrayal. It ends finally with a story of healing and epitome. A family reconnects after dealing ...

  • Beautiful and Wanting
The Eccentric Family has a way of pulling you into its story and filling you with hope. Each character has struggles and seem so real. There are times you feel bad, find them stupid, brilliant and deserving of so much more.

However, there are times when clarity do not happen and it leaves you guessing.

  • A little something for everyone.
My favorite part about this show is that you get a little of everything. There is some fantasy, slice of life stuff, some romantic interests, comedy, and they even throw in some action occasionally. Additionally the plot over the course of the season was beautiful, well thought out and displayed in a relaxed enjoyable manner rather than having it all forced down your throat in one ...

Background of Kyoto is really beautiful, but story is very boring.
I never seen the anime on TV which has this beautiful background. Background of Kyoto is really beautiful, but story is very boring. I don't understand how creators can make such a boring story, I can't believe it.

  • Best of a surprisingly strong Summer '13 season
A cleverly animated and beautifully artistically designed anime', this is one of the few that has a storyline that is even better than the artwork.
If you love urban fantasy fiction of Charles DeLint or Emma Bull, here is a story that is an analog to their tales firmly planted in Japanese folklore. While humans live (mostly obliviously) in Kyoto, this tale revolves around the magical residents ...

    Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking
This show has a magic to it that I haven't seen in a while. Just when I think it's silly, it gets DEEP.
Underneath the silliness, is an in depth look into the characters and terrifying revelations that will leave you breathless. This isn't just about Tanuki running around and preforming tricks. This show isnt just goofy (though it does have it's moments). It's emotional, has mystery, and dare I ...

A Fun, Fantastical, and yet Tender Story About Family and Relationships
In the first two episodes I wasn't really impressed with thecharacter animation, but as the diverse characters appeared in their various forms as tanuki, tengu, and human I've grown attached and most importantly of all the enchanting and mystical beauty with which Benten's character is drawn is impressive. The backgrounds have always been amazing and every scene with Benten is full of ethereal ...
