  • Such a promising pilot
I knew nothing about it going in. I essentially clicked it simply because there were no schoolgirl uniforms anywhere in the sales pitch available. The pilot episode was very slickly produced but used a style I've only really seen in short flash animations. Everything was so promising all the way through the j-pop silluette dance video during the credits. And... Suddenly...

    I heard a voice. In ...

  • Super Heroes co-created by writer Stan Lee and director Hiroshi Nagahama
I was drawn to this anime by the Stan Lee name, of course and after watching it, I found it to be very similar to some of his other works (X-Men in particular) as it focused on not only extraordinary people doing extraordinary things but what the public thinks of superheroes and their biases/prejudices.

The animation style is very different and to be honest, I was fine with that as the story ...

Story is basic, realization is average
    Nothing really stands out there.

The story is quite standard, with an-all-you-can-eat cliche collection of super heroes vs super villains.
The design is pretty ok, a minimalist style that I can appreciate, but the animation is way below average.
Then again, nothing is really bad either.

An overall ok series if you run out of things to watch.

  • Different, but worth watching
This review is written after watching the entire season 1.

I like the art style. I like the soundtrack. The show is inconsistent, however.

There are times where it all clicks and becomes an homage to great pop-art. Then there are times where it seems jumpy and it feels as if the art director couldn't spend the time to properly block out the scenes so they would make sense. These times ...

  • Old school Stan Lee comics mixed with some anime? Does it blend?
Not really, and honestly they barely tried mixing the genres.

Simple answer to the question is this is it's own thing and reminds me of other attempts by Stan Lee's production company to re-make the magic of Marvel. The animation reminds me alot of the old 70's Marvel cartoons updated to modern production methods. Including stock comic book images of low resolution faces and details for minor ...

Original artwork but painfully bland storytelling
I get that they tried something new with this anime, but the pacing makes it feel like you are watching paint dry. The sound seems strange, and the plot feels like mud flung on a wall and called art. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah extra blahs for review length.

  • It's actually pretty good, yet not for everyone looking for traditional Anime
I watched the first episode partially through and walked away not liking the animation, and overall it seemed old school and clunky. I decided to give it another shot one night and once I got through that first episode and moved on wanting to find out how things were going to move forward in the show. Subsequent episodes explore other view points and information from the opening sequence and begin ...

    Couldn't get past the animation
The combination of detail and minimalism in the animation is all out of balance. I watched the first 5 minutes and couldn't continue watching. If you don't mind really off animation then give this a try. If you are like me and the animation style matters, you might consider passing

  • If all you want is Naruto, you're going to have a bad time. Otherwise: it's good.
Reflection isn't just an outsider's take on the western 'superhero' genre and an exploration of the style of American animation from the 80's and 90's - though it is both of those things - it's also entirely its own thing. I don't know that I have ever seen any first episode from any genre willing to spend so much time still and silent. The total amount of dialog in any one episode subsequent ...

Stan Lee plus Anime ='s AWESOME
The animation style took a bit getting use to, but this is literally like they took the Playstation Exclusive show, Powers and reformed it into a new ANIME. The characters are cool, the story is interesting, you can totally feel the influence by Stan Lee. I feel like this show, if it continues to go strong (each episode seems to improve the anime more and more) I could see this going on for at ...
