    A Terrible Bait and Switch
Even the Japanese otaku fled from this thing, and with good reason. It starts out as though it's going to be a fantastic series with mechs, aliens, drama, action and intense moments. It has the hallmarks of everything that makes an anime great.

Then it suddenly, without warning, becomes a harem anime, consisting of every shallow cliche in the book. Every female suddenly and inexplicably falls ...

I can't believe I watched this entire series.
There's a few good things going for this anime, you actually start to care about some of the characters, and the animation is pretty good overall. There are some impressive action scenes that got me pumped at times. Other than that this anime reaches another threshold of ridiculousness for it to not be worth your time.

I'm wondering if the director's diet consisted of Elmer's glue and expired ...

    Not given enough credit
I'm glad I waited until after I watched the series to read the reviews. This was a good show, yes it is is definitely a Harem but not as bad as it being made out. The invasion and the "creation" of most of the characters takes place during the height of the cold war, Vietnam, themes from the Korean War and World War 2 are integral to the story. There are deep things beyond the surface. Political ...

    Unexpectedly bad....
First two episodes led me to think that i was about to discover one of those beautiful jewels. I thought i had found another one of those great hidden animes. But no.

I recommend anyone to watch the first two episodes, they are AWESOME, but I dare you to go all the way to episode 8. You will be just waiting for something to happen, and then you realize that nothing happens, and that it is ...

Don't forget to mention the war.
So initially you get a really gloomy feeling when watching this series, just like Ergo Proxy it starts out hopeless and dark.

Humanity is really in for it, people die all around and the BETA seems extremely overwhelming.

But a couple of episodes in, it turns into a highschool musical. and the whole feeling you got form the first episodes are gone, seriously i stopped watching halfway thru ...

The anime isn't too consistent on how it comes off.
    Spoiler alert!

Okay, summary of story first. Humanity is losing the war against aliens invading and tearing a hole in humanity's a**hole (all of Europe, decimated), people are fighting them with mechas because they have overpowered anti-aircraft snipers, and these things brutally eat everything in their path with all sizes of forces, even Godzilla size aliens! It's total madness.
    Now, skip ...

smooth start with a rocky finish
The show starts strong but quickly changes. The characters seem to have inconsistent personalities and many of the plot twists felt thought out only half way. It had a great premise for it to run on but never lived up to its potential. There are many issues that are never resolved, which would normally hint towards a second season, but this feels more like poor planning more than anything else.

    ~muu-luu alternative~
3 separate story lines not well integrated. The 3rd & finally plot was extraneous and made little sense. The 2nd was okay but did not flow well from the 1st plot. Character development carried this series, the women especially. This had the potential to be totally awesome if the story line had been carried by the plot / style of the first 2 episodes.
    After a 2nd viewing, I found this ...

It's not as bad as some series, but it is irksome.
In my own little Muv-Luv Total Eclispe update Ive reached episode 9 now and it's been a bit up and down really.

After the 1st two episodes which is more than a prologe than anything else, the next couple of episodes we meet the rest of the main cast which although meets most anime arch-types (short tomboy tsundere anyone?) seem to be alright.

The action in these episodes are a tiny bit lax, ...

Total Eclipse: Why should you watch it?
To jump right in here, for starters the anime is very well done, the story flows very well, and art is excellent. I havn't seen very many animes as of yet that has taken the Mecha genre, and turned it into something with a very well designed plot that will drag you in no matter what episode you are on. It also takes what you would normally see as good vs evil, and equalizes them out so instead of ...
