"I can't do anything but eat sweets..."

Yumeiro Patissiere (Dream-Colored Patissiere) is a super-cute show about Amano Ichigo, a girl we can all relate to - she can't do much except for eating sweets. She is loosely based on the main heroine stereotype - cute and clumsy - but is willing to work hard, thus gaining a Sweets Spirit. A Sweets Spirit is like a Shugo Chara - it is a fairy from the Sweets Kingdom that was sent down to look for a partner in the human world. Sweets Spirits are expected to help their human partners in pursuing the Patissiere dream. If they do well, thy may become the Patissiere of the Sweets Kingdom.

What I liked about this show was that it was semi-original, and the main character was easy to relate to. A girl that can't help loving sweets - but Ichigo isn't just any girl. She has special taste buds, possibly inherited from her grandmother, that help her taste Patissiers's feelings. A man named Henri realizes Ichigo's potential after she tries some of his cake, and invites her to attend St. Mary, a school for Patissieres and Patissiers. Reminded of her grandmother, who pursued this career and made her happy with her cake, Ichigo agrees.

Her first days are rough, filled with jealousy, happiness, disappointment, resentment, and awe. She becomes a Sweet Spirit's partner, and learns that she can make edible pastries. Ichigo may have taste buds, but she doesn't have patissiere skills - yet.

Easy to Learn Modern Magic

Yokuwakaru Gendai Maho (Easy to Learn Modern Magic) is a very enjoyable anime, which is not your usual Magical Girl comedy with fanservice. It's uniquely portrayed and worth watching. If you haven't started watching, start now.

Koyomi is Misa's apprentice in modern magic, which is employed with the use of computers and phones. Modern Magic is all about rewriting Codes, or the makeup of something. While she is willing to work hard, she isn't very talented and, no matter what, can only create wash basins. She is easily surpassed by another apprentice, Kaho.

In comes Ichinose Christina Yumiko, who was Misa's former student, and is blessed with strong magical genes inherited from her grandfather. Always looking out for Koyomi and saving her at the last second prompts Yumiko to believe Koyomi is worthless and her magic training is pointless. While she tells her so, Koyomi is determined to continue with magic, working diligently. Will her work ever pay off, or is she doomed to creating wash basins forever?

This Show Filled me With Happiness~!

This show isn't bad actually. In fact, in 12 episodes and an OVA, I was obsessed with it. So why isn't everything 5 stars?

Actually, this show would be perfect if they improved and tweaked a couple of things.

The first thing that really needed improving was Kamisaka Haruhi. Actually not bad for a main characters, she's almost in the Mary-Sue danger zone. She's also whiny and takes away from other characters's potential.

Also, there were a little too many "coincidences". Or should I say "cliches." As soon as they mention the school building blowing up, it really blows up. If they wanted a cheap, spacious beach house, it turns out to actually exist. Which leads me onto my next complaint.

CAN ANYONE SAY, "FANSERVICE?" While a little is okay, isn't this supposed to be a kid-friendly show? There's an episode dedicated to give you a whole month's worth of ecchi fanservice, Yuuma's best friend has an affinity for PRON and the girls cosplay every episode.

Otherwise, the show wasn't too shabby. But is you don't want to be eye-raped, then skip episode 8. Please.

Well, Shugo Chara isn't half-bad. I mean, you've got these pretty cool Guardian Characters, humor, romance, and lots of cool theme music. How can you go wrong with that?

Unfortunately, they screwed up in the end.

The story started off uniquely. It was pretty interesting, it had pretty art, and let's just say I listened to the theme songs like a madwoman. I loved the Guardians, and Amu wasn't a Mary-Sue. That didn't last for long though.

Amu soon turned into a sappy, corny Mary-Sue who was super-fickle, crushing on every guy she met, and having emo, pointless moments. Girls and boys alike were her fans, everyone was jealous of her, etc, etc. I felt like I was watching something Peach-Pit pulled out of a Soap Opera and mixed with an anime. I did NOT like Amu, I HATED her super shiny, super long Open Heart, and Amuto made me feel sick. In fact, all of Amu's romance made me feel sick, because it was so fake, she was so shallow, and the whole thing was disgusting.

I felt like some of the good characters - Nagehiko, Ikuto, Tadase, Rima, Kairi, Utau, and Kukai, for example, shouldn't have been involved in any of this It broke my heart when I watched Amu step all over them until they were her friends or liked her.'

If you want comedy, go watch Hayate no Gotoku. If you want harem, pretty boys and/or shoujo, go watch La Corda D'Oro. If you want romance or to learn a real lesson about who you are, go watch Fruits Basket. If you want to waste your time, get aggravated, or be disgusted, then Shugo Chara might be for you.

I Love it! Hayate no Gotoku PWNS~!

I love this show. It's got everything a good show needs, and then some. The characters are fruity and awesome, there's a splash of cross dressing and romance here and there....

Hayate no Gotoku! is about a 16 year old boy name Ayasaki Hayate, who is abandoned by his parents and left with a large debt on Christmas Eve. In an act of desperation, he attempts to kidnap a girl and hold her for ransom. In the end, this ultimately fails, and he ends up saving her from real kidnappers. The girl, Sanzenin Nagi, falls for him and employs him as her butler.

Hayate no Gotoku!! is a continuation of the original series. It brings back the old characters with oomph in a first episode where the characters run a track race (since it was "the easiest way to introduce the characters in one go").

All in all, the series is fun and enjoyable. You need to watch. NOW.
