One Piece is truly amazing. It gives off a real feeling of adventure and excitement, when I first started watching I actually got excited, even when Luffy only had one crewmate and a tiny boat. Maybe it's the pirate aspect of the story, but it certainly has something to do with the fact that the ocean is one of the major settings in the show. Traveling by boat is so much more exciting than traveling by land, and the ocean comes with such a feeling of grandeur, and holds so many possibilities.
The world is huge and immersive, and every place that's visited has it's own unique flair or originality. The show in general is very funny, and the humor never gets old. Another thing I think that affected the way the show is now is the hyping of the Grand Line and future adventures at the start of the show. It's even better when you know how huge things are going to get. Everyone the characters meet is telling them that the Grand Line is a place where anything can happen, and where dangerous pirates lurk. And they finally get to the Grand Line, and every character introduced comes with a shock of excitement and wonder.
I've tried my best to describe the feeling of the show, but regardless of what you think of how I've done so far, the fact is that it's an incredibly adventure and you most likely will enjoy it.
While the background music and themes are all amazing and fun to listen to, there are only two or three good openings.
There is a HUGE amount of characters in this show, and they are all awesome, hilarious, cool or interesting in their own way.
Even at the start of the show, I never felt that the animation or artwork was bad, but since then it's improved immensely, unlike some OTHER shōnen anime out there... *cough* Naruto *cough*
The manga and the anime are both equally awesome, and I highly recommend it. In fact, if you like Naruto or Bleach but don't like this, you are not human.
Go watch One Piece. Now.
Then you probably don't even need to read this review. Go watch/read Bleach.
Something you might notice after a while of watching is that Bleach is significantly "cooler" than Naruto is. The atmosphere in general, along with the story give off a more contemporary or alternative vibe than shows like Naruto. From the characters to the episode/chapter titles, you can tell that has the more style than any other shōnen.
While there doesn't seem to be any real "twists", the story stays interesting for the most part, without feeling too predictable. It generally focuses on a large cast of characters, and there is almost always more than one fight going on at the same time. The story isn't generic, but it isn't super original either.
Most of the music is either great or passable, and the openings to the anime are always cool and usually fun to listen to. It definitely has better openings overall than One Piece or Naruto.
Almost all of the characters in Bleach are easy to watch, and it's hard to HATE any of them. While I don't think the characters are particularly 3D, they are generally interesting and most of them look cool.
The drawings in the manga are always sharp and crisp, this is also usually true with the anime, although a few times I've noticed the quality in the art drop for short periods of time. There are times when the animation is really good, but never truly bad. The animation is always at least OK.
Bleach overall is really good, so start watching. Or reading. If you're a manga person.
