A cast of misfits and a bittersweet set of romances

The story itself is gonna be something you either love or hate. It deals with a Sana and Nanaka who were childhood buddies. The guy (Sana) moves away, and so many things happen to the Nanaka that it becomes rather depressing after awhile and you just want to say *will anything go right for her*.

The show does have some romance though. It is a harem anime in my opinion in the fact that there are a lot of potential love interests for Sana but he does choose Nanaka and most of the episodes are them trying to get Nanaka's life back in order. It is a rather sad anime though from Nanaka's standpoint and frustrating at times. When Nanaka's past if revealed it gets more and more depressing but like a house on fire at night it is impossible to look away. The show does develop thought and the characters also develop in positive ways

The characters other then the main characters are well, weird. There is a forbidden romance that will turn a lot of people off and a girl with a one sided obsession/love. There is also a lolita issue and a very creepy and scary old grandma.

Overall, this show has more depressing moments then happy jolly moments and the romance is bittersweet because of the past between Nanaka and Sana which you don't learn about fully till the end. Also the relationships are different, not necessary bad but it is not a typical girl and guy who go to the beach, sports festival, culture festival and Christmas kind of show. Some people will not mind the relationships, I found them original and refreshing depsite initial creepyness. If you watch the whole thing though you will remember it because it is not a normal romantic anime, there is suspense, romance, a teeny bit of comedy, drama, pyschological aspects and a little gore (just a little though).

Cirque de Soleil in anime form

A girl finds her true potential in a cirque de Soleil setting and does some soul searching in the process.

This show is sweet. The main character tries out for a part in some cirque de soleil like entertainment. She of course gets put at the lowest level of perfomers and gradually works her way up, making friends and learning life lessons.

It's sounds almost too innocent. It is. But the different plays are really fun and I enjoy watching the buildup. The supporting characters are good too. The evil villan and main plot of the show was a bit of a set off for me but I liked the final performance for the first season and the way it ended. I really liked the Mermaid and Cinderella sequences. It is fun and amusing. Not really any romance or deep thinking but it is a show that makes you smile. I've seen both Kaleido star and its sequel and both are just fun shows with a lot of movement (not action per). The character development of friendships is predictable. You know the main character is going to become friends with everybody, including the people who originally give her the cold shoulder. You know the main character will get better with each performance etc etc. So nothing is really going to be like *I didn't see it coming* kind of feeling

But if you have the time and just want entertaining show then check it out. You will know if you love it or hate it after probably the first 4 or 5 episodes. I really enjoyed it though personally.

Frustrating at times but overall amusing

I've always been on the fence about Shugo Chara. I wish Amu was older, she doesn't seem like an elementary student and it is creepy for me that Ikuto that is I believe in 10th or 11th grade has the hots for a 5th grader. Shugo Chara is mainly filler episodes. If the fillers were not there though, the series would probably only be a 13 ep series. The fillers allows the audience to connect with the characters. However it is frustrating that every episode is basically the same format:

(Amu meets a child who has a dream, the child has doubts about the dream, Amu gives a brief pep talk and the child returns to normal by the end of the ep).

As far as the embryo goes, the ending is rather dissapointing
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
It was a dissapointment for me, the climax was like a bubbly burst. So much build up and then I just wasn't satisfied with how it turned out.

Also I am saddened by the lack of romance. At one point I should be cheering for a child getting into deep romances because she and her little guardians should enjoy childhood. At the same time the amount of love interests for Amu is a constant slap in the face. Yet nothing comes it. I don't know if I am happy or frustrated.

That said, if you got the time, it is a cute show. If you like Tokyo Mew Mew, Gakuen Alice, Kodocha, Sailor Moon or any of those kind of shows then this is good watch. Frustrating at times with the obvious slowness but still overall a fun amusing show

Revenge was never so good

A girl who is betrayed by the guy she likes vows revenge. This is not your ordinary anime.
Usually if a girl in a anime is betrayed, she cries in self-pity, goes to the next guy that is usually right next to her, or the break-up ends the show. Not Kyoko. She is a fiery girl that really develops as she becomes more independent. She is a also a fighter. A common funny part is her inner self in the form of little spirits, much like the little devil and angel on your shoulder.

This show is a laugh out loud anime, not a chuckle or just smile anime. It is amusing because it is a slice of life anime but has a strong character. She is also supported by strong characters that support her but don't baby her.

There is a frustrating aspect of the show and that is usually Kyoko's naviete. She has several guys with the hots for her but is clueless to everything. It is frustrating that Kyoko doesn't realize what is right in front of her literally. But I like to see her grow. After a while the revenge aspect becomes second to Kyoko's desire to become a good actress and a good actress she is. Once you start the anime it is hard to stop. The anime stops at a cliffhanger . . . of course. But the manga delves much further. Hopefully there wil be many more seasons. It is a top favorite

As far as reverse harems go . . .

As far as reverse harems go, this one is not original, in fact it is like pretty much all anime reverse harem series. Think about it though, there are only a handful of reverse harems (Saiunkoku, Ouran host, la corda d'oro and such) and as of yet Fushigi Yugi is the only reverse harem anime I know where a the main character girl chooses her guy. Sure there are preference and hints but nothing concrete. Angelique is not exception.

Angelique herself is a fragile girl that needs constant supervision and someone is always out to harm her. She learns of friendship and hardship and cries rather often. To me this was not very original. Bad aliens try to destory the world, a girl with super powers purifies the baddies. If you can tolerate the fact that originality is not found in ANY of the Angelique series then it is not a bad watch. Frustrating at times that Angelique won't pick a guy but the animation is good and the story is not bad overall. As long as you go into it not expecting too much romantic development (spoiler, there is pretty much nothing) then go for it.

Don't be fooled by Genre lies

I started Hanasakeru Seishonen because of the beautiful animation (a.k.a bishounen). The major aspect of the story was suppose to be a girl that is suppose to choose one of several chosen guys to marry, at least that was my inital impression.

That plot line is basically a HUGE farce. The storyline has on a romance scale of 1 to 10 at best a 0.4. Kajika from other reviews seems like a beautiful, strong, and heroic girl. That is so far from the truth, I am slightly disgusted. The whole anime has been Kajika using her Daddy's powers and influences to get what she wants, ex. (Kajika tries to talk to an American ambassador. She decides on using her daddy's business card to talk to him and of course the ambassador and the president of the US are really good friends with Kajika's dad, go figure). You are constantly and I mean like EVERY episode reminded of who her dad is and how much influence and power he has.

Kajika herself is a spoiled brat who is so used to getting everything she wants it comes natural to her and when something goes wrong, one of the guys(Li-Ren usually) has to find a way to bail her out but then her family influences save her yet again. An example of her spoiled attitude is her stubborness that her dead pet lepord has reincarnated himself into one of her suiters. What I don't get is usually (I thought) the lepord would have had to die first and then be reincarnated into Eugene since Mustafa can't be a lepord and a boy in different parts of the world at the same time. But not only is Eugene older Kajika, the lepord has only been dead a couple of years and Eugene has had his cold, cool personality for a lot longer. That said, Kajika still is obssessed with him being her beloved pet and no one stops her anymore. She got what she wanted with little resistence . . . again. Yeah she is nice and kind but it is a kindness that grows frustrating often. Kajika trusts everyone and is kind to everyone, probably because she was raised in seclusion on a island for a good part of her life. But because of her naivete, everyone else has to basically babysit her because she does stuff without thinking of the consequences or how much trouble she is for the people around her.

The guys aren't so much better (except li-ren so far). Normally either the guy is putting up a front of being this cool suave guy and the rest of the time he is going into a self-pity trantrum. The plot has become Kajika's daddy basically using his daughter to get close to boys that can be useful allies to the Burnsworth family. Somehow every guy falls for Kajika after some cheesy monologues about self-love and friendship speeches. Then suddenly all these guys who were so cold and uncaring suddenly smile and they learn to love, but only in front of Kajika of course (gag!). Kajika has yet to even think of romance, I wonder if she even has the concept of romance yet alone marriage in her mind. Of course no loving has been going on and that is another frustrating aspect.

Well I've only seen up to ep 18, maybe it will change for the better, at least I hope but nothing is guarenteed.
