People don’t just fade into nonexistence, not as long as someone still remembers them. Just like when you put out a fire, the smoke doesn’t immediately vanish.
What does looking down from someplace high make you think of ?
Even if you try to fight it, the impact you feel from the sudden and almost violent impression of an unobstructed view of the world you live in, the feeling that a view from above brings about . . . It just feels “distant”. The view from someplace high is a real spectacle. Even if there’s nothing there, the scene is just magnificent. But, you know, if your vision is just too wide, it makes you feel estranged from the world. Rather than the narrow space you can experience by yourself, you realize that the vastness you can actually see right now is the world you really live in. However, no matter what, you cannot actually feel your own existence in the spacious world. And that is when reason, created by knowledge, and feelings, fueled by experience, start to collide, until eventually one of them erodes and your mind descends into chaos. And then, . . . Your vision is not what your eyes see, but what your brain perceives. Our vision is guarded by what we call “common sense”. People can’t just break out of their little box and expect to carry on as if nothing has changed. That’s a given.
