THE TALE OF MY LAPTOP ADVENTURES
On my laptop I have hundreds of manga zip/rar files that I've downloaded. It all began with the SHOUJO Skip Beat, easily one of the best mangas I've read (even though the artwork takes a bit of time to get used to but once you do, you realise that you end up pulling the same ultra dramatic faces that the mangaka is adept at drawing, you know what I mean; answer me in a sparkly yet slightly dazed way if you do)
After that I carried on through the shoujo genre mostly thanks to Onemanga which was good but after reading through a lot, I came to find that I really didn't like the ditzy girls and so in my search for a more fullfilling story I came across the genre of GENDER BENDER. Ofcourse the best of which Ouran almost everyone in the animemanga world knows. I found this genre meant that the girls were often stronger (maybe because they'd have to act like guys) and the overall stories are magnetic. Hana Kimi is I'd say just as good as Ouran, with distinctive characters but with a more definite romanctic plot (that actually gets resolved) and Power! even with a plot exactly the same as Hana Kimi is deff worth a read purely for the fact that you will crap urself with laughter (saying that I think I'll read it again). Unfortunately this manga supply of this genre is quite low so I had to move on.
And move on I did though maybe not in the most wholesome of directions. SMUT, ah smut... the EECHI for females. Though I'd come across stuff like this before I didn't bother much with it because the heroines often turned out to be ditzy again but well titillation is titillation. Not much you can do about that, so I went through a bit of that (Love Monster is quite good).
Tired with everything I decided to cross a border I hadn't crossed before, YAOI. This was something completely new to me in terms of manga. Not sure how I felt about it (as a woman you get the feeling of being left out I suppose is what it is) the first one I think I read was Love Potion Fingertips. Time went on and I read more and more and thus I realised that yaoi had everything. Cute stories, hilarious stories, angsty stories, small oneshots to volume sagas as well as sexy sexy men (I'm such a perv.) Yaoi deffinately has more sex in it than anything I've read so far and I'm glad, here in the west there's more emphasis on the female body to gawk on so in the past I never really found mens bits (adult mind childish mouth) sexy but I can now say I am definately MORE STRAIGHT THAN EVER, though whatever I was before I was alright with, argh I dunno, I've never tried to define myself before.
Lol interestingly, with the amount of mostly yaoi that I've downloaded (just about sucked Evil Empire dry) I've had to put them in a lot of folders to sort them out and the way I've done it, is by putting a row of folders dedicated to the works of mangaka's I recognise and enjoy like Yamato Nase, Ike Reuben etc. and then on the side there are 6 category folders: dj, Cute Story, Story, Ultimates, Animal, and Shota (careful). It was odd when I noticed that Cute story just meant stories that I'd like to read again, and Story, which was meant for angsty stuff was just a folder for the mangas I didn't want to read again lol. (Incase your wondering Ultimates, is for the extremely sexy stuff, my most fave of which is HEY DOCTOR and ANIKI SENSEI).
What other borders have I yet to cross? Huh? Hentai you say? Er....I've only gone there a little, I swear....squirm.....(I still prefer Yaoi sex, it made for women mostly by women and so is more satisfying to a woman. Who needs jiggly big boobs -mine aren't as jiggly big since I lost weight but that's got nothing to do with it- when you can have not one but two, maybe three sometimes, bishonens with a nice bum...and stuff).
Lastly, since I mostly use anime for action stuffs and manga for romance, I thought I'd try some shonen manga and I love it. I'm reading kekkaishi, xxxholic, sket dance, angel densetsu but am looking for more so if anyone recomend more that would be great. Anything with lots of chapters or volumes, a great hero to cheer on, and heap loads of funny. My quest to cross the borders of manga on my laptop continues.
