If You've ever felt rejected, and a bit...Misanthropic...WATAMOTE is for You!
In the entire History of Anime, little else has come even somewhat as close to defining and guiding Us through the Life of a TRUE Otaku. As many have said, WATAMOTE may not be for Everyone. Before I first watched it Myself, I heard nothing but rather negative - and if She was a real Person, I'd try My best to keep Tomoko Kuroki...the, well...I don't know if I can say Protagonist, but at least the ...

    This isn't everyone's cup of tea, but's it's worth a taste.
If you don't know anything about Watamote, here's a few things you should need to know: Watamote is about first year high school student named Tomoko. She loves visual novels, manga, and staying up all night on the computer; She's the typical otaku. The most important thing is that Tomoko is very introverted. Although she does her best to interact with people, thinking it will magically make her ...

A refreshing - or highly disturbing - take on Otaku
Warning: This show may trigger extreme second hand embarrassment, and sympathy, in those who play dating sims, those who read manga, those who have difficulty communicating in "Reality" and those whose life choices made school life a torment for them. WATAMOTE reminds us of a time when our escapes from reality were our reality - and paints a scarily realistic picture of a path we ...

  • A great, true to life story
If you're looking for an anime where everything's sunshine and daisies, you're in the wrong place. What makes this anime so great is that it addresses a major problem that many kids face nowadays, and it's the feeling of isolation from their fellow peers. We've all at some point in our lives felt rejection, and fear it. However, I think this anime helps us embrace the fact that we can't, and ...

  • Wonderful and Original
Watamote is hilarious and incredibly depressing at the same time. I feel like I can really relate to her and feel so sorry for her at times. I’m really looking forward to the OVA and hoping for a second season even though the 12 episodes is already perfect. One of my favorites.

    Loved by All, True Path
What an amazing anime. It's funny, sad, touching, and it's about a super cool girl. I watched this first and then read the manga and I loved both. Don't be like me and get too attached though, because there probably wont be a second season. Also she uses Beats by Dre headphones and that pisses me off.

The Underdog that Stays the Underdog
Watamote's main protagonist Tomoko Kuroki is easily one of the most realized characters in anime with issues that I am sure that anyone who has had social anxiety has faced in their school life. Equal parts cringe worthy and humorous, the anime makes you sympathize and at times shake your head at Tomoko's interaction in her world and thought processes. With great animation, a wonderfully quirky ...

Otaku's Be Ready to watch your life on the Extreme!
For anyone who spent their school years locked away watching anime or playing video games this anime hold TONS of sad truths! But the extremes of the situations are what make the anime funny and worth the watch. I have actually began reading the manga and from what I've read the anime sticks true to it's source! I laughed and felt bad for Tomoko all at the same time! The stories were easy to ...

  • The show has some charms but is it possible to watch without guilt?
At times the show is great and you finally think things will turn around. Your heart jumps at the thought. "YAY!" only for some disappointment or laugh. But the show gets downright depressing, and makes you think of your own escapades trying to rationalize A) do I laugh at Tomoko, B ) am I laughing at myself. As soon as I reached the second conclusion on many episodes I could not watch it. It ...

watamote, the sad but humorous anime
this anime is all about tomoko kuroki, a high school student who wants to find friends and be popular. i find a lot of myself it tomoko, she is an average otaku that has no friends. i wouldn't take this anime too seriously, or else you might get a little depressed.
its a very enjoyable slice of life anime, but like most slice of life anime, it shouldn't be taken too seriously.
