Rooting for Someone Who'll Never Win
While not a spectacular anime, Watamote is an incredibly interesting story of a girl who enters high school in hopes of becoming popular. Tomoko is by no means hero. On the outside, she is a liar, a cheater, hateful, introverted, secluded, and impossibly awkward. However, her determination and what goes through her mind to reveal her true character is what propels the show and really pulls in ...

The Underdog that Stays the Underdog
Watamote's main protagonist Tomoko Kuroki is easily one of the most realized characters in anime with issues that I am sure that anyone who has had social anxiety has faced in their school life. Equal parts cringe worthy and humorous, the anime makes you sympathize and at times shake your head at Tomoko's interaction in her world and thought processes. With great animation, a wonderfully quirky ...

Otaku's Be Ready to watch your life on the Extreme!
For anyone who spent their school years locked away watching anime or playing video games this anime hold TONS of sad truths! But the extremes of the situations are what make the anime funny and worth the watch. I have actually began reading the manga and from what I've read the anime sticks true to it's source! I laughed and felt bad for Tomoko all at the same time! The stories were easy to ...

Definitely a hit or miss series.
Just reading what this anime/manga is about should give you a clear hint...
Either you love it or you hate it.
I think it has to do alot with our own experiences in school and growing up and it's definitely a major boost if you can associate yourself with the main character Tomoko.

I'm not ashamed to say that I was somewhat of an introvert in my mid teens, I still find myself ...

A great anime that deserves a great ending!
I forget how I stumbled across this anime, but it's the second one I ever saw. If the first (Future Diary) wasn't enough to convince me of anime's supremacy over American animation, this one has. Been hooked ever since...

Watamote must get a second season! I just want to give this girl a hug :-(

    A more serious review:
Many other reviews I have seen of Watamote seem to convey a ...

best anime series ever made imo
if you have not watched this watch it. it's full of very mean-spirited and humiliating humor, the artwork is excellent, the voice acting is above top-notch (omg the background characters in the classrooms kill me every time) and the story itself is engaging. people who don't seem to think it's funny are, to me, losers.

btw people who say this anime lacks plot development: were you even ...

    This is the best!!!!
After watching this anime, I really wished there would be a second season, just so I can see Tomoko's high school adventure to become popular! I could relate really well to Tomoko with being unpopular and a total Otaku (although the difference is I don't have too bad of a people problem...i think). This anime is just a really awesome anime and it captures some real problems of an otaku life (plus ...

    Relevant and scathing comedy
As opposed to other slice-of-life shows that portray extraordinary people in idyllic situations, Watamote takes a truly original approach by portraying a relatable misanthrope hoping to correct herself. The situations in this show are often cringeworthy--if only because of their close parallels to one's own life experiences--and provide a kind of sympathetic comedy that, while not for all, will be ...

One of the best I have ever seen!
This has been one of the best anime that I have watched in years! This character makes you FEEL things for her and strong feelings too. Whether you pity her, understand her, are angry at her, you will feel a lot of different emotions. I would LOVE to see a series 2!

The show that keeps on cringing.
I personally couldn't sit through and entire episode of the show at a time. I had to watch each show in segments, but the show was worth it. Watamote is so good that it hurts (literally, the cringe hurts.) I've never felt more sorry for an anime character.
