    Potential present, but untapped
Based on the first episode only:

The first thing I thought when I saw this series was Phoenix Wright with magic. That concept alone would have been enough to draw a large audience, but where Phoenix Wright had its strengths, Wizard Barristers has its weaknesses.

The opening scene to the whole series is interesting. Good voice acting, good action (although the physics get a little funny), and ...

there's a lot wrong with this one.
My main complaint was that the personality of the main character didn't seem to mesh with what we've been told of her backstory. She seems to be the bumbling and innocent klutz, and not the sort of person who would be the youngest ever to pass a wizard bar exam (that has to be hard, right??). I just couldn't believe a super law genius who breaks the law twice in the first episode and acts all ...

    Definitely worth watching
I'm not one to write reviews normally, but seeing as this series had none I figured I'd help some indecisive people out if I could.

The animation in this is wonderful, very clean and colourful. Seeing as there is only one episode out at the time of writing this, I can't much comment on the story so far. I will say the premise for the show is original to me: Magic Lawyers for the wizard ...

  • Interesting concept, poor execution. And did they lose their animator?
I loved the artwork. I enjoyed the voice actors. I absolutely loved the interaction between characters. That's why the series gets stars at all. Honestly, I recommend watching the series just for the character interactions. Just be warned that you'll be disappointed by the plot.

Now for the bad. The idea behind the story is very good, but the plot that they came up with does not live up ...

  • Great Concept, Dull Execution
I walked into this show hoping for a kind of supernatural crime drama and, though this expectation was somewhat fulfilled, was left rather disappointed. Our lead is a 17-year-old wizard girl that wants to be a Barrister (or attorney) for Wizards in a biased human society. Her motives are pure - she feels her mother's trial had some misconduct and needs to be revisited - but she is also ...

Better than expected, Weaker than it could be.
"Wizard Barristers," or as I have been calling it with my friends, "Law and Order: Harry Potter" has an incredibly cool premise that blows it in the execution. The show schizophrenically jumps from high-tension courtroom drama to mech battle fight to wizard duels to pervy boob jokes, all without much space to breathe.

Yasuomi Umetsu's art style feels very love-it-or-hate-it, but personally I ...

Interesting Concept But That's The Extent Of It
Kind of neutral on this series - interesting story/concept but the character is a bit too eccentric and the plot lines are not fully developed. It's a bit like ok that happened so lets move on. The balance of character development and the story wasn't right and it didn't draw me in.

  • This show had a lot of promise.
Wizard Barristers. Wizards whom act as lawyers for accused wizards. This concept is different. I half expected some more courtroom drama a la Law and Order, but this was not the case. It turned out to be a fan service anime (in my eyes) that also happened to have wizard lawyers. Cecil and the rest of Butterfly Law Firm were interesting. They only seemed to expand the story to a few of the ...

  • Not bad, worth a watch, don't expect too much.
The art work, excellent, lots of eye candy here, backgrounds were very nice. I remember enjoying the opening and closing music, though I don't necessarily recall the tunes. While the story line had its interesting moments, it seemed somehow lacking. The last episode didn't help, it leaves you with questions, but more than a little disappointment and the feeling of something half finished. Why did ...

Sometimes it pays off to ignore the reviews
I tend to average out the reviews when I choose whether to watch a show or not. In the case of this show the reviews were largely negative and so I kept pushing it to the end of my queue for more popular things.

Finally started watching and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Here is the breakdown:
    1) Don't expect a professional courtroom experience. This show is silly and quick paced when ...
