  • Great Concept, Dull Execution
I walked into this show hoping for a kind of supernatural crime drama and, though this expectation was somewhat fulfilled, was left rather disappointed. Our lead is a 17-year-old wizard girl that wants to be a Barrister (or attorney) for Wizards in a biased human society. Her motives are pure - she feels her mother's trial had some misconduct and needs to be revisited - but she is also ...

Better than expected, Weaker than it could be.
"Wizard Barristers," or as I have been calling it with my friends, "Law and Order: Harry Potter" has an incredibly cool premise that blows it in the execution. The show schizophrenically jumps from high-tension courtroom drama to mech battle fight to wizard duels to pervy boob jokes, all without much space to breathe.

Yasuomi Umetsu's art style feels very love-it-or-hate-it, but personally I ...

Interesting Concept But That's The Extent Of It
Kind of neutral on this series - interesting story/concept but the character is a bit too eccentric and the plot lines are not fully developed. It's a bit like ok that happened so lets move on. The balance of character development and the story wasn't right and it didn't draw me in.

  • This show had a lot of promise.
Wizard Barristers. Wizards whom act as lawyers for accused wizards. This concept is different. I half expected some more courtroom drama a la Law and Order, but this was not the case. It turned out to be a fan service anime (in my eyes) that also happened to have wizard lawyers. Cecil and the rest of Butterfly Law Firm were interesting. They only seemed to expand the story to a few of the ...

  • Not bad, worth a watch, don't expect too much.
The art work, excellent, lots of eye candy here, backgrounds were very nice. I remember enjoying the opening and closing music, though I don't necessarily recall the tunes. While the story line had its interesting moments, it seemed somehow lacking. The last episode didn't help, it leaves you with questions, but more than a little disappointment and the feeling of something half finished. Why did ...

Sometimes it pays off to ignore the reviews
I tend to average out the reviews when I choose whether to watch a show or not. In the case of this show the reviews were largely negative and so I kept pushing it to the end of my queue for more popular things.

Finally started watching and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Here is the breakdown:
    1) Don't expect a professional courtroom experience. This show is silly and quick paced when ...

  • I enjoyed this series 5 stars for me
I'd like to get this on blu ray and if they ever release it in manga format (English). I'm glad I came across this show, I found it to be highly entertaining. It may not be for everyone but it was for me great :)

The voice acting was great, though I would have loved to learn more about the small animal side kicks.

    Deceptively bad do not watch
This show is a mess, the in world magic rules change constantly with no explanation. The legal system isn't thought out, sometimes testimony is evidence, sometimes its not. Justifiable use of magic somehow still results in fines. The gavel sends people to the jail, it does not kill them, this was not explained until episode 12. Episode 11 is only partially animated. The criminals testify ...

Impressive anime - definitely worth a watch.
Overall, I love anime that involves magic and this one wasn't any different. I loved it from start to finish. The art was pretty unique and the animation for the most part was definitely impressive with the exception of that one mostly-stills episode. The magic-fights were impressive and the animation (again for the most part) was top-notch. As for the concept itself, I like the idea of wizards ...
