  • A slow-motion trainwreck
The series had a concept with great potential to explore issues like prejudice (many of the discriminations seen against Wuds apply to ethnic Koreans in Japan) and the nature of justice, but it all gets lost in the shuffle. The first couple episodes were ok, but the series quickly departs from the law procedural premise into a magical fighting series featuring Magitek Mechas that apparently ate ...

  • Loved it - not sure why so many didn't
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews... I really really liked Wizard Barristers and I'm sad there's not going to be a second season, especially because it set itself up for one. Honestly this has been one of my favorite animes. The writing is great. If you're hesitant about it b/c of reading negative things, just watch the first episode.

  • Would Definately Watch !!!
Well to start off I was not very interested in this anime at all. my initial thought was that it would be just like all the other wizard animes out there; but it was completely different ! Which surprised me I absolutely loved all their familiars and that it had somewhat of a Anti-Christian/ Mystery theme. Just to clarify I am not anti-Christian, I am just trying to state that it was very ...

  • Yet another show that's only on the cusp of greatness....
Sooooo-so close, but this show just didn't cut it. The characters were either waaaaaaayyyyyyy overdone or they were as plain as a crisp white sheet of unsoiled paper. The magic angle was fun until it got all legalized and over-regulated (that's a great way to suck the fun right out of magic right there). Add to that the fact that the plot had no driving force throughout the first several episodes ...

  • Interesting concept, poor execution. And did they lose their animator?
I loved the artwork. I enjoyed the voice actors. I absolutely loved the interaction between characters. That's why the series gets stars at all. Honestly, I recommend watching the series just for the character interactions. Just be warned that you'll be disappointed by the plot.

Now for the bad. The idea behind the story is very good, but the plot that they came up with does not live up ...

  • Great Concept, Dull Execution
I walked into this show hoping for a kind of supernatural crime drama and, though this expectation was somewhat fulfilled, was left rather disappointed. Our lead is a 17-year-old wizard girl that wants to be a Barrister (or attorney) for Wizards in a biased human society. Her motives are pure - she feels her mother's trial had some misconduct and needs to be revisited - but she is also ...

Better than expected, Weaker than it could be.
"Wizard Barristers," or as I have been calling it with my friends, "Law and Order: Harry Potter" has an incredibly cool premise that blows it in the execution. The show schizophrenically jumps from high-tension courtroom drama to mech battle fight to wizard duels to pervy boob jokes, all without much space to breathe.

Yasuomi Umetsu's art style feels very love-it-or-hate-it, but personally I ...

Interesting Concept But That's The Extent Of It
Kind of neutral on this series - interesting story/concept but the character is a bit too eccentric and the plot lines are not fully developed. It's a bit like ok that happened so lets move on. The balance of character development and the story wasn't right and it didn't draw me in.

  • This show had a lot of promise.
Wizard Barristers. Wizards whom act as lawyers for accused wizards. This concept is different. I half expected some more courtroom drama a la Law and Order, but this was not the case. It turned out to be a fan service anime (in my eyes) that also happened to have wizard lawyers. Cecil and the rest of Butterfly Law Firm were interesting. They only seemed to expand the story to a few of the ...

Not bad, worth a watch, don't expect too much.
The art work, excellent, lots of eye candy here, backgrounds were very nice. I remember enjoying the opening and closing music, though I don't necessarily recall the tunes. While the story line had its interesting moments, it seemed somehow lacking. The last episode didn't help, it leaves you with questions, but more than a little disappointment and the feeling of something half finished. Why did ...
