    Fantastically Creepy
First episode was genuinely creepy partly because of the tension, but mostly because of the animation style. The stories are short (less than 5 minutes) and it really didn't need to be longer than that. They pack in a whole lot of creepy in those 5 minutes.

Yamishibai, a portal into Japanese horror.
This is Yamishibai, a show that is essentially Goosebumps for the Japanese audiences. Now I say that because it has the “gather around the campfire and tell spooky stories vibe”. Except in this case it’s “gather around the creepy man with the haunting mask and tell spooky stories” vibe. Now we have our cultural differences from Japan, and one of those differences is the way we tell horror stories. ...

    It actually scared me
I was uncomfortable after watching this.
It was so spooky, I actually had to watch with someone.
    The animation is pretty good.
Too bad the episodes aren't longer than 5 minutes, but that's all it takes to scare you.
Please let there be a season 2!

    Short Simple Supernatural Stories
This is a great series to watch if you enjoy tales of the supernatural! Distinctively animated as a paper puppet show gives this show a charming traditional story tale feeling. The only thing that might be an issue is that some of the stories relay heavily on cultural nuances and don't make a lot of sense, however, don't allow that to stop you from watching this delightful show!

    Wonderfully Tense and Atmospheric
I does what it sets out to do perfectly. The animation style, story telling, and voice acting are all spot on. Most of the episodes are rather predictable (in one way or another), but I believe that adds to the suspense. My personal favorite episode was Contradiction.

    Delightfully Creepy Stories
It's not often that I do reviews, and it's not often that I feel the need to write a review for a short. However, Yamishibai fills a deep hole I have for the horror in anime. These give you the feeling of a campfire story. It's the type of feeling you'd get from hearing a story at a slumber party, or reading it on some forum in the middle of the night. I love these shorts and am excited to see ...

    Not that scary, but...
Animation is strange, but I like it. Each episode is less than 5min, so sometimes it leaves you with wanting more at the end of the story. My favorite episode is 4, Hair since it reminds me of Ju-On (or The Grudge). This show is more creepy than scary, since it's too short to really scare me enough to have nightmares. Nonetheless, it's a good way to pass some time.

Made Me Afraid to Look Up
This story was short but because of the South Park type animation it gave the eerie tale an even spookier ending. I hope the episodes will continue to be as good. Give it a try-yuuuul like it. BOO!!!!

    Spooky scary skeletons.....
This show is supposed to be scaring the "you know what" out of you, but, it just doesn't do that. Its creepy but not quite creepy enough. The stories just feel too bland or sometimes even quite ridiculous but never scary. I've seen quite a few horror anime before and they did manage to make me say "jinkies!" but not this one.

Most of the reviews for this show are quite popular and probably ...

Short, Creepy, & really fun to watch
The episodes are short, but pack in just enough stuff to make them scary. The animation looks like cut-out drawings. While simple, I think it only adds to the creepiness. I'm really enjoying this series. I honestly feel like I'm one of those kids at the intro, listening to the masked old man tell ghost stories.

[Note] While it's definitely creepy, I haven't seen an episode with anything ...
