    It gave me the spooks.
I marathoned this series in the middle of the night and my only regret is that I couldn't sleep afterwards without watching something happy. I love the style of this series and I can wait for 2! (filler spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace for more characters)

Creepy Fun even if you dont like ghost stories
Not much gets to me, I can safely say that Yamishibai creeps me the hell out! I have yet to watch an episode that doesn't give me goosebumps and make my hair stand on end. There is no gore and really no jump scares ether but what you do get is left up to your imagination which is much worse. I recommend that you watch this in the middle of the day with all the house lights on.

Amazed how much I like this!
I first saw this while browsing through the shows and was caught by the mention of Ghost Stories in the title. Looking into it more I thought i'd be a boringly animated, simple sequence of people just talking and a really in depth story, so I walked away from it.
After a while, I figured I'd just give it a try. And my, I fell in love with it.
Each story is written so perfectly, giving you a ...

    Animation style is pretty cool---
I think the creepiest part of these three episodes so far is the opening sequence. I was imagining these would be tellings of old Japanese creepy stories (Kumo no Onna, Cut Mouth Woman, etc), but it didn't really live up. The third one was my favorite so far, and I hope that they follow the trend of getting better.

  • Pity I can't add my screenshot. Great start to S3!!!
OMG....Bravo to the start of Season 3. Like the others I miss Narrator-san but I will give the new intro/outros chance to grow on me. (Not Literally..Thankyou). I am looking forward to ep2 so are my goosebumps.

  • Its story time kids.
It's funny how the simplest of ideas work pretty well.
Yamishibai is the animated equivalent of telling campfire ghost stories. The only difference is how it takes advantages of using visuals and atmospheric settings.
The stories are well written, unique, and some will stick with you.
Also some endings are open to interpretation which can make it even more creepy.
    Probably my favorite part ...

  • Anime can be scary too.
Tales, stories, and jump scary …oh my. This is a good show for Halloween. The animation is different but a welcome change. It starts out slow for about three episodes but gets better. It was fun to see the club react to the show. Some even said that they will finish watching it at home.

  • Outstandingly original, refreshingly terrifying.
This show is amazing. The animation is beautiful, the atmosphere/ambiance is just great. I love the writing as well! I just signed up for CrunchyRoll premium last night, and I have already watched seasons 1 and 2 TWICE. I hope there will be more!

  • Absolutely Terrifying
I don't know if I love this or hate it. I watched the first one right before going to bed. Not a good idea. This is the perfect thing to put on Halloween to creep out your friends. I'm always in the mood for creepy shows the month of October and this one hasn't let me down.
