Creepy Fun even if you dont like ghost stories
Not much gets to me, I can safely say that Yamishibai creeps me the hell out! I have yet to watch an episode that doesn't give me goosebumps and make my hair stand on end. There is no gore and really no jump scares ether but what you do get is left up to your imagination which is much worse. I recommend that you watch this in the middle of the day with all the house lights on.

  • wonderful creepy series
These are so well done! Every detail- from the intro to the outro and all the voice acting- exudes an unsettling feeling. The stories are chock-full of tension, and will often surprise you. They've certainly kept me up a few nights - and they don't rely on gore or other "cheap" methods to deliver a scare.

Amazed how much I like this!
I first saw this while browsing through the shows and was caught by the mention of Ghost Stories in the title. Looking into it more I thought i'd be a boringly animated, simple sequence of people just talking and a really in depth story, so I walked away from it.
After a while, I figured I'd just give it a try. And my, I fell in love with it.
Each story is written so perfectly, giving you a ...

  • An Anecdote of Mirth
Yamishibai is collection of short tales, each about 5min in length that give ghastly encounters of life, death and beyond. Each episode delivers a unique twist or idea different from the others. Many play off longer stories or traditional novels, condensed and created for a child's attention span. This also creates the novelty of the idea of 5min stories. It leaves the watcher enthralled and ...

  • Pretty Spooky 4/5 ..
Its pretty good, art style is alot different. Some episodes aren't very scary while others are, I'd give it a try though, episodes are fairly short and entertaining. 4/5 because it isn't the greatest but it isn't bad either, it's fairly good. Lots of tension and suspense for sure.

  • Nice Stories Keep up the Good Work
These aren't the most scariest ghost stories in the world or the best, these stories meant to be traditional. So stop hating because it's too short or the animation isn't the best, The Stories can be a little corny some-times but its interesting.

Worried about it being too scary?
I found these stories creepy enough to give me shivers, but not seriously upsetting. There is no gore to speak of. Even if you don't always handle scary stuff well, you should still be able to enjoy the series and learn a few Japanese cultural references while you're at it.
