I can't say it's perfect, but I think a lot of people are missing the concept here.
This review is mainly intended for people unfamiliar with the series. What you have to understand is that this anime is based on games already more than a decade and a half old. This is an equivalent of the FFVII remake, no one is going to be 100% happy. No one played the game exactly the same. A lot of the heart of the game is in the dialog, and there's literally hours of material that could ...

Literally as good as an Ace Attorney anime can get, people need to cool it
Let's face it: Although people constantly thought Ace Attorney would work well as an anime, it really doesn't. The games take a slow pace - The cases, or at least most of them, are not pieced together in a short space of time, they take hours and hours of carefully piecing clues together, shifting through testimonies, disproving accounts, and going through interesting dialogue. Phoenix stumbles ...

Good ol' Ace Attorney. Nothing more, nothing less.
After watching the first twelve episodes (which is a standard lapse of time for a season), I can honestly say that I love it. Yes, I've played EVERY Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney game and I was just as astonished as I was when I first played this masterpiece and when I first watched the anime. But there's a few points I'd like to explain concerning the anime:

First of all, the characters are ...

One Dimensionally Authentic To The Source
When producing an anime based on a story-centered game in an episodic format, it is best not to rock the boat too much. This series follows that philosophy pretty well, with the first five episodes being decent transcriptions more than translations to a narrative animated format.
However, when the source is a murder mystery adventure game, there can be huge problems in pure transcription. First ...

    cheesiness abound and loving it
I say the following as an avid fan of the games:
It is very loyal, which I appreciated greatly.
It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is good, because the biggest charm of this series is the humour.
It's doing something I never thought I could see: a decent anime adaptation of a video game, and so far, it is doing it with beautiful animation, scenery, metaphors and splendid, splendid ...

GREAT!! Played the games and still love this as well
Was skeptical first how it will live up to the games' pacing and all but was pleasantly surprised! Hope to see more of the series. It was nice to see the voices attached to the characters. I hope everyone gives at least give it a shot! Highly recommend!

    Honestly Disappointed
The series starts out scene for scene from the game with no additional flare or character development. I was way more invested in the game, actually. All the camera angles are exactly the same. the voice actor for Phoenix Wright sounds like a teenager. Their reaction to death is nonchalant and then they proceed to ignore it and act normally. The characters aren't believable. The art seems ...

    OBJECTION! 4/5 stars
The Anime adaptation for Ace Attorney seems good and stays true to the game but I'm a little confused about why they didn’t keep the part where the Witness Threw his toupee at Ryūichi Naruhod. Also the game's characters acted more realistic. Plus they also did a decent job allowing the spectator "The Person Watching The Show" learn more about the case to a point when they can guess before the ...

A love letter to the fans of the game
Nine episodes in, and I am enjoying every minute. For those who played and loved the games, it is a faithful and affectionate don't-miss adaptation.

That said: it probably won't work for viewers who are not previous fans of the game. The outrageous, cheesy over-reaction shots when Phoenix/Naruhodou scores a point off a witness were funny and appropriate in a Nintendo game that came out back ...

    Death Note/Case Closed Jr.??
I decided to try this anime based on its unusual theme. I was looking for a short, less conventional, selection and wasn't familiar with the games. Plus its popularity pretty high. The thumbnail and synopsis portrays a mixture of of Case Closed and Deathnote. I could only make it to episode 4. The Extremely trivial arguments and "contradictions" made my experience sorely disappointing; ...
