Tiny Tyrants Rule With an Iron Fist in World Conquest Zvezda Plot

"Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog" explores the humorous 2014 TV anime about a group of chunibyo supervillains

Conquering the Streaming Anime World.

Sometimes it's difficult for even the most experienced anime evil overlords to determine which series are worthy of conquest and which series can be safely ignored. Let "Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog" be your loyal henchman in this regard. Each week we provide additional info and cultural context to help fans determine whether or not they'd like to try out an unknown series.

What's World Conquest Zvezda Plot?

World Conquest Zvezda Plot is an original TV anime from 2014 with direction by Tensai Okamura and animation by A-1 Pictures. Crunchyroll describes the story of World Conquest Zvezda Plot as follows:

What does it take to CONQUER THE WORLD?! Every leader of the past has thought of it… but all they have done was to merely dream of its greatness. World domination…nobody has been able to achieve it. Until one little girl by the name of Kate Hoshimiya came along. Kate Hoshimiya will shock the world! How was she was able to carry out such a MAGNIFICENT stunt? So FRIGHTFUL! So GLORIOUS! Could this be…the ZVEZDA PLOT?! Let the light of our great ZVEZDA shine upon this land far and wide!

This description does a good job establishing the tone of the series, but in terms of storyline World Conquest Zveza Plot follows Asuta Jimon, a rebellious middle-school student who runs away from home only to find himself recruited into an organization of chunibyo supervillains bent on world-domination and led by an elementary school age girl named Kate Hoshimiya.

The Melancholy of Tensai Okamura.

If you're familiar with the other directorial efforts of Tensai Okamura – such as The Seven Deadly Sins, Kuromukuro, and even the "Stink Bomb" sequence of the Memories anthology film – you'll know that his works often combine an irreverent sense of humor with moments of serious drama. World Conquest Zvezda Plot is no exception, although it leans way harder on the wacky comedy beats than on the internal conflicts of the characters.

Arrested for Fan-Service Crimes.

One element to be aware of when watching World Conquest Zvezda Plot is that all of the main characters present secret alter-egos featuring flamboyant costumes, and that includes all of the young women of both White Light and Zvezda. These costumes tend to be some combination of skin-tight and / or scanty, and some situations lead to gags of a sexual nature, so if fan-service and raunchy humor involving adolescent characters bother you, you may wish to steer clear.

When Weird Becomes Normal.

World Conquest Zvezda Plot is both relentlessly weird and remarkably deadpan in presenting its weirdness. The series involves hyper-advanced technology, giant monsters, robots, Omyoudou magic, costumed heroes and villains, civil war, and ancient lost civilizations, but everything is presented in such a straightforward manner that describing the show as a middle-school comedy about a boy dealing with a difficult home life would not be terribly inaccurate.

The Conquest Continues.

Crunchyroll currently streams World Conquest Zvezda Plot in 116 territories, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, and the Middle East. The series is available in the original Japanese language with subtitles in English, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Portuguese. Aniplex of America also releases World Conquest Zvezda Plot on DVD in North America.

Packed with elaborate action sequences, bizarre genre-blending concepts, and oddball humor, World Conquest Zvezda Plot is a perfect fit for anime fans who are in the mood for something different. If maniacal schemes of world-domination sounds like your cup of tea and the series is available in your area, please consider giving World Conquest Zvezda plot a try.
