Are You Watching Tower of God? Check Out Hime's Recommendations For What to Watch Next
Need to fill in the time between new episodes and beyond? We've got you covered!

Crunchyroll Original WEBTOON series adaptation Tower of God is still going strong this season, but the wait between each episode can seem like an eternity. Thankfully, there are a bunch of awesome anime series to watch in the vein of ToG, and Crunchyroll-Hime used her infinite wisdom to recommend 5 shows you absolutely need to watch (when you're not watching Tower of God).
Fire up those Crunchyroll queues and add the following shows from Hime's list for maximum high-stakes action satisfaction!
Black Clover
From the very beginning, Tower of God does an immense job of world-building. The same can be said for Black Clover, which sets up Asta's struggle to gain magical powers and ascend to Wizard King while painting a much larger picture of the Clover Kingdom and all the competing Magic Knight squads that operate within it. As the series progresses, its characters and ever-expanding world are inseparable, which is something we can see unfolding gradually with every step Bam takes in Tower of God.
Check it out if: You've been feeling the magical side of Tower of God and need more high-concept wizardry and world-building in your life.
Hunter x Hunter
If there's one series that absolutely kills it with nail-biting tournaments and games, it's Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter. Madhouse's 2011 adaptation starts from the first Hunter Exam, and rarely gives the audience a chance to catch their breath as the games and competitions become ever deadlier for Gon, Leorio, Killua, and Kurapika. Like Tower of God, the side characters are just as quirky and colorful as the leads, giving the impression of a lived in world that's happy to snuff even the strongest contender out if they take a single misguided step.
Check it out if: You live for the mind games the Tower presents and want to watch some similarly intense tests unfold.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Did episode 3 of Tower of God have you wondering what in the world Bam, Khun, and Rak were supposed to do to get out of that room of doors alive? The solution to that particular puzzle ended up being another curveball, and that's pretty much all the pitchers throw in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. No situation is too strange or impossible to be presented to ANY generation of JoJo's protagonists, from the gripping and dark narrative of Phantom Blood to the absolute top-to-bottom chef's kiss that is Golden Wind. Like Tower of God, the only thing more surprising is how they manage to make it to the next episode.
Check it out if: You ever wondered how the heck Bam, Khun, and Rak are going to get out of their latest impossible situation. JoJo's is the KING of impossible problems and even more improbable solutions!
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
In Re:ZERO, Subaru Natsuki finds himself summoned to another world full of strange new companions and deadly enemies. If not for the fact that he ends up acquiring a "Return by Death" ability that essentially lets him die countless times only to start over again at specific "checkpoints," Subaru wouldn't have survived a day in this fantasy land. Similarly, Bam finds himself in a strange place with its own rules and one option: To forge ahead and survive long enough to accomplish his goal of finding Rachel at the top of the Tower. Both shows are very much a learn-as-you-go experience, with enough twists and turns to make each new episode an immediate must-watch.
Check it out if: Your favorite aspect of Tower of God is Bam's introduction to a mysterious new world with arcane rules. Now, if only the ToG crew had second-life checkpoints to fall back on in case of death!
JUNI TAISEN: ZODIAC WAR
As we learn right away in Tower of God, the quest to reach the top is eternal. It's a long-standing endeavor with an immense history behind it, and those looking for more time-honored traditions will find another intense, recurring conflict in JUNI TAISEN: ZODIAC WAR. Every twelve years, the Zodiac tournament takes place. In the twelfth tournament, twelve more of the world's deadliest mercenaries—all of which take on the titles and attributes related to the animals of the Chinese zodiac—kick off a fierce battle. Survival is paramount, and like Tower of God, those competing will get ahead by any means necessary.
Check it out if: You're hooked on the lore of Tower of God's world and the eternal conflict it presents. Throw in zodiac-themed warriors and you have an equally pressing tournament at the heart of JUNI TAISEN.
We've still got quite the climb ahead of us in Tower of God. While we ascend—and after the dust has settled on the first season—give these shows a chance and you'll have plenty to keep you occupied outside of the Tower.
