"Naruto: Road To Ninja" Moviegoers to Get Original DVD in Japan

Contains a new motion comic, Kishimoto's live-drawing and interview

The first 1.5 million Japanese moviegoers who see this summer's Naruto Film Road to Ninja will receive a 34 minutes original DVD called "Motion Comic NARUTO" at the theaters for the first time in Japanese cinema's history. The DVD contains a motion comic to tell a reconstructed story with CG-representations of the original manga art works, live-drawing footage for the DVD cover illustration by the Naruto original creator Masashi Kishimoto with his own commentary, and his long interview.

The production of the DVD was decided by Kishimoto with the editors of Shonen Jump magazine during the Golden Week (4/29-5/6). The production cost was over 100 million yen (approximately US$1,260,000). Naruto the Movie: Road to Ninja, which features a story and character designs personally conceived by Kishimoto, will hit Japanese theaters on July 28.
