Japanese Politicians Seriously Consider Building a Gundam
Prominent military fiction author Harutoshi Fukui will speak with Liberal Democratic Party representatives
On an upcoming panel discussion, scheduled to be streamed online by Nico Nico Live, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party have at least one subject designed to get out the otaku vote slated for the agenda. Tadamori Oshima and Bunmei Ibuki plan to discuss biped robots and how they should "seriously considering the development of Gundam."
Harutoshi Fukui, an author of military fiction often compared to Tom Clancy, known to anime fans for writing the Gundam UC novels, will appear as a guest.
In 2008, an estimate pinned the material cost of building a full scale Gundam at US$725,000,000.
Do you think bipedal robots have any place in a real military?
