Author Natsuki Takaya celebrates 20th anniversary as manga author
Unfortunately, there's still no new Fruits Basket anime in the works, but voice talent Yui Horie, Aya Hisakawa, and Tomokazu Seki are getting back together to record an audio version of the hit shoujo manga's final chapter.
Author Natsuki Takaya is celebrating her 20th year as a manga author, and the occasion is being marked with a mail-in give-away running in Hana to Yume that will award manga magazine buyers a DVD featuring panels of the manga, accompanied by a dramatic reading from the cast.
2012's 24th issue of Hana to Yume, on sale November 20th, will feature special illustrations from Takaya's Fruits Basket, Hoshi wa Utau and Liselotte to Majo no Mori, along with congratulatory messages from manga luminaries. Volume 3 of Liselotte to Majo no Mori will also be released on the 20th.
Fruits Basket follows an optimistic girl living alone in a tent since the death of her mother, who finds a place with a family cursed to turn into the animals of the Asian zodiac when embraced by a member of the opposite sex. Akitaro Daichi (Poyopoyo, Kamisama Kiss) directed a 2001 anime adaptation.
