G4's X-Play and Attack of the Show to be Cancelled

Episodes to roll out through December, building to finale

In September it was revealed that the G4 network—which started its life in 2002 with a primary focus on games before shifting to include broader content—would be rebranding to cater to an older, GQ-reading demographic. While the fate of G4's game-centric programming was foggy, Kotaku reports on a shake-up that spells the end of long-standing shows like X-Play and Attack of the Show

Tweets from Attack of the Show talent like Candace Bailey and other insiders further pointed toward the programming's shaky future. While it was unclear at first whether they would be rolling out episodes throughout the rest of the year, TV Guide says both Attack of the Show and X-Play will wrap up production at the end of this year. The shows will air episodes through December, rotating guest hosts as they build to their respective finales.

Perhaps it was inevitable with the channel's upcoming rebranding efforts, but it's still a bummer. Anyone disappointed to see the end of G4's gaming shows?
