Say Goodbye to Nintendo Wii, Production Officially Comes to an End

Nintendo's message on Wii page now says "Manufacturing has ended"

Earlier this month Nintendo's Japanese page for the Wii console included an announcement saying, "Manufacturing is scheduled to end soon." Well, prepare your fond farewell missives, because the page has been updated with a simple message: "Manufacturing has ended."

That's right, the last Wii is out the door, thus putting the full heat of the spotlight on Nintendo's current console, Wii U. Thankfully sales have been picking up for Wii U lately, because it has a long way to go to catch up to its now-retired sibling. The last official sales total for Wii was released in June, putting the behemoth at 100.4 million units sold worldwide.

In the end, Wii was Nintendo's best-selling console of all time, and the third best-selling device overall, coming in behind the Game Boy and Nintendo DS. Feel free to share any Wii memories of your own in the comments!
