Shoujo Manga "Ao Haru Ride" Gets TV Anime Adaptation

Maaya Uchida and Yuuki Kaji will voice the leads

It is officially confirmed today that a TV anime adaptation of Io Sakisaka's Ao Haru Ride shoujo manga is in the works, and the official site for the anime project is also launched. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret since the February 2011 issue and the latest ninth tankobon volume is just released in Japan today. It has had more than 4.4 million copies in print.

The story centers around a first grade high school girl Futaba Yoshioka. In her junior high school days, she was not good at dealing with boys, except Kou Tanaka from the class next-door. He transferred to a different school during summer vacation. In her high school, she meets again her first love Kou Mabuchi (his family name is changed due to his parents' divorce), but his character is totally different from it used to be. The voice cast include Maaya Uchida (Rikka Takanashi in Chunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai!) as the protagonist girl Futaba Yoshioka, Yuuki Kaji (Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan) as Kou Mabuchi.
