Thanks to a Kickstarter fundraiser, it looks like cult French animated fantasy WAKFU could soon be getting an English release. Ankama, the folks behind the multimedia franchise, has launched a campaign to crowd fund an English dubbed Blu-ray of the game spin-off, and one day in, it's already almost $24,000 towards its $80,000 (CAD) goal.

The Blu-rays will also have English and Spanish subtitle. And, while the current goal to release the first season, they are looking ahead to season two and the Japanese animated specials, featuring the work of Eunyoung Choi, Michio Mihara and Masaaki Yuasa.

Plot summary

WAKFU is a heroic fantasy animated series. The series follows the quest of an orphan, Yugo, who sets out to discover his origins. Accompanied by a team of characters both brave and comedic, he must face powerful enemies during his journey and he will be at the heart of a plot which the fate of the World of Twelve depends on. 

WAKFU is also an ecological tale that allegorically explores the fragility of nature and the consequences that human actions may have on the ecosystem.
