Original Japanese Version of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" Heads to North America

"Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger" coming to DVD courtesy of Shout! Factory

It's pretty rare that we get graced with official English releases of classic Tokusatsu shows. Every now and then we get something niche like Kikaida, Inazuman, Kamen Rider V3, or a subtitled Ultraman show, but fans of henshin heroes and sentai action typically lean on fan subs or raw videos.

Thus, it was a pleasant San Diego Comic-Con surprise when Shout! Factory announced plans to bring Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger—the original Japanese basis for Saban's first season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangersto DVD in North America. This marks the first uncut Super Sentai series to be released in the states.

Here's the confirmation via Twitter:

There are currently no release details, but the announcement alone is reason enough for excitement. Zyuranger is fantastic, and in the hopefully not-too-distant future a wider English audience will be able to marvel at Machiko Soga's unforgettable performance as Bandora, AKA Power Rangers villain Rita Repulsa.
