"Library Wars" Live-Action Film Sequel Slated for October 2015

"The Last Mission" is set in one and half year after the first film

It is officially confirmed today that a sequel to the live-action film adaptation of Hiro Arikawa's light novel series Toshokan Sensou/Library Wars is in the works for a October 2015 release. 44-year-old Shinsuke Sato is back to the director's chair along with Nana Eikura (Iku Kasahara), idol group V6 member Junichi Okada (Atsushi Dojo), and other original cast.


The first live-action film based on the first volume of the novel was released in Japan in April 2013 and earned 1.72 billion yen, ranking 34th in the 2013 box office in Japan. The sequel titled Library Wars: The Last Mission is set in one and half year after the first film's story and tells the largest battle for The Library Team Defense Force. The shooting is scheduled to begin in the middle of this month.
