Katsuhiro Otomo, the artist best known as the creator of the Akira sci-fi manga and anime, has won France's Angoulême International Comics Festival’s Grand Prix. Otomo topped British comic writer Alan Moore and Belgian artist Hermann in the final round of the annual election honoring the lifetime work of a living comic creator. He succeeds last year's winner, Calvin and Hobbes creator Bill Watterson.
