Two Child Actresses for Sana in "Kodomo no Omocha" Stage Play Announced

Directed by the director of the 1996-1998 TV anime, Akitaro Daichi

Nelke Planning today announced the two child actresses who will play the protagonist girl Sana Kurata in the upcoming stage play adaptation of Miho Obana's popular shoujo manga series from the mid-late 1990s, Kodomo no Omocha, aka Kodocha. The open audition for the role was held last summer. 


The two who won through the audition are 11-year-old Kokoro Okuda and 13-year-old Rio Ogura. Okuda plays Kasumi Arimura's sister character in the upcoming live-action film Birigal, while Ogura is known for her appearances in the TV CMs for the recent PreCure toys. They will play the same character Sana on the stage on different days. More cast will be announced shortly.  


The play is written and directed by 59-year-old Akitaro Daichi, who was also the director of the 102-episode TV anime adaptation in 1996-1998, and is scheduled to be performed at Hakuhinkan Theater

in Tokyo in late August.
