New “Hakuoki” Musical Hits Japanese Stages in May

Based off of the anime / video game series, the new stage work is a prequel

A new musical based off of the Hakuoki series of video games and anime is set to hit Japanese stages beginning in May. The new production features music, dance, and stage-combat. It is a prequel set before the formation of the Shinsengumi, the principal protagonists of both the anime and the games.

Previous Hakuoki musical productions have been performed since 2012. Hakuoki is known for its romance, tragedy, and emphasis on handsome male leads. The new production promises to include previous cast members as well as new faces.

The new play will run from May 23 – May 31, 2015, at the AiiA 2.5 Theater in Tokyo, Japan. The second run will be at the Kyoto Theater in Kyoto, Japan, from June 10 – June 14, 2015.

More information is available at the official Hakuoki musical home page.
