"Wallace and Gromit" spin-off movie opens in Japan July 4th
From June 12th through the 25th, Shaun the Sheep, the British stop-motion spin-off of the Wallace and Gromit sets up shop at the Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku for a Japanese stop on its charity exhibit/auction tour. Hideaki Anno designed an Evangelion take on the character, along with wife Moyocco Anno offering her Sugar Sugar Rune interpretation. Sanrio, calligrapher Tomomi Kunishige and sweets artist Osamu Watanabe also joining in for 130cm statues.
The tour of sheep statues from high-profile artists, designers, celebrities and local talent started with Shaun in the City in London back in March, co-inciding with the Chinese Year of the Sheep and following the release of Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep the Movie. Following the exhibitions, the statues will be auctioned to benifit childrens hospitals.
The Shaun movie opens in Japan July 4th. The series is said to achived its greatest popularity outside the UK in Japan.
