1st theme song "ANTI-HERO" will be released on July 29
It is confirmed today that four-member Japanese rock band SEKAI NO OWARI provides theme songs for the upcoming two-part live-action film adaptations based on Hajime Isayama's hugely successful manga series Attack on Titan. While the name of the band literally means "The End of the World" in Japanese, the second film is also titled as Attack on Titan: End of the World.
The theme song for the first part is "ANTI-HERO," and the band has already finished its recording with American hip hop producer Dan the Automator, well-known for his works for Gorillaz and KASABIAN, in the US. Its CD single will be released on July 29. The second part's theme song is "SOS," and Sigur Ros' producer Ken Thomas is expected to support the recording. Considering the films' international releases, both songs are sung in English.
The first part of the Shinji Higuchi-directed films, titled Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan, will open in
Japan on August 1, then the second part Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan: End of the World will follow
on September 19.
