High-profile Eighties OAV series gets an HD-remastered release for Japanese home video
The landmark OAV series, Megazone 23, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a deluxe Bluray boxed set release on Japanese home video. The set includes all four Megazone 23 OAVs plus a 64 page booklet, promotional extras, and HD-remastered visuals taken from the 4K telecine materials.
Megazone 23 is a sequence of OAVs that began publication in 1985. It's an anime science fiction story with many elements (transforming motorcycles, virtual idols, etc.) that have since become staples of the genre. Lots of high profile talent - such as Noboru Ishiguro, Shinji Aramaki, Yasuomi Umetsu, Ichiro Itano, and Haruhiko Mikimoto - were involved in the production of Megazone 23.
The Megazone 23 Blu-ray Archive BOX - 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION - retails for 26800 yen ($218.11 US) plus tax. It hits Japanese home video on November 27, 2015.
