Unofficial celebration of Tsuburaya's "Ultra" series meets with unlikely resistance
Late to the party again because I'm a tokusatsu slow-poke, but on Friday, July 10, 2015, Japan celebrated "Ultraman Day", an unofficial holiday that commemorates the initial broadcast of Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman TV show back in 1966. Unfortunately, this year the festivities were marred by the intercession of alien invaders.
Ultra monsters Alien Baltan and Dada appeared at the Village / Vanguard FREAKS Shibuya PARCO store to protest the holiday. There they picketed, distributed fliers, and menaced customers (i.e. posed for photo opportunities).
Aside from being a clever piece of PR, the protest was also designed to advertise a recent collaboration between the Peeping Life anime and the Kaiju Sakaba Monster Bar in Osaka.
