"Doraemon" Begins Digital Distribution in Japan

All 45 volumes of Fujiko Fujio's manga available through Comic Shogakukan Books website


The entire print run of Fujiko Fujio's classic comedy manga, Doraemon, is now available via digital distribution in Japan. Shogakukan and Eight Socialware have combined forces to publish all 45 volumes of the science fiction / comedy manga with the time-traveling robot cat to personal computers, tablets, and smart phones via the Comic Shogakukan Books website.



The release comes in two formats: the original black-and-white version (45 volumes total) and the digital colorized version (141 volumes total). The black-and-white ebooks retail for 400 yen ($3.22 US) plus tax per volume, while the color versions retail for 200 yen ($1.61 US) plus tax.



The Doraemon manga originally ran 1969 to 1996 in different children's magazines published by Shogakukan.
