Regional Mascot Kumamon Teams Up with "Yowamushi Pedal"

Laid-back bear character promotes the August 2015 release of "Yowamushi Pedal" film

Since the upcoming Yowamushi Pedal film involves a grueling race in the prefecture of Kumamoto, regional mascot Kumamon decided to get in on the cycling action with a humorous cross-promotional campaign.

Sure, Kumamon looks particularly portly and not at all aerodynamic, but there's no doubt that inside the bear's furry breast beats the heart of a true otaku cycling champion.

There's also a poster featuring Kumamon sporting the official race colors of the Sohoku High School bicycle club.

Yowamushi Pedal: The Movie is directed by Norihiro Naganuma. The film hits Japanese theaters on August 28, 2015.
