VIDEO: Team Mexico Wins World Cosplay Summit with "Zelda" Performance

Italy and US were runners up in 28 nation competition

With the inclusion of Canada and Sweden as Observer Nations, it was 28 nations/regions that gathered to crown the champions of the 2015 World Cosplay Summit. Thousands gathered to watch the contestants join the annual parade to the Osu Kannon temple, following being judged by a panel of voice actor Toru Furuya, last year's winners from Russia, Nakazato Ikuko (Kodansha Nakayoshi Aria Editorial Department), Nao Hirasawa (Animation Producer of Ultra Super Pictures) Ryutaro Ichimura (Dragon Quest Producer of Square Enix), Tomokazu Tashiro (Composer), Åsa Ekström (Swedish Cartoonist).


This year, Team Mexico (Juan Carlos and Shema Arroyo) came out on top, followed by Italy (Manuel Capitani and Luca Buzzi) and the US ( Alpacosplay and Yummy Gamorah) as runners up. Mexico also won the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award, ANA Prize and the Journey Pad Award as well as the Nico Nico Award. Italy also won the Laguna Tenbosch Award while USA won the WCS Executive Committee Award.


The US was also honored with the Brother prize for sewing. Team Spain's wigs earned them the Cyperous Award, while Japan's sound effects earned them the JOYOUS Award. Hong Kong took at the MobyBooks and HIS Awards. China won the  Livedam Stadium Award.
