Limited edition fashion doll ties in with the "Evangelion and Japanese Swords" exhibit in Morioka
To coincide with the ongoing "Evangelion and Japanese Swords" exhibit at the Iwate Prefectural Civic Center in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, Takara Tomy is releasing a line of sword-wielding fashion dolls beginning with Asuka Langley Shikinami from Rebuild of Evangelion.
The "Asuka Langley Shikinami with Japanese Sword" doll stands 27 centimeters (10.6 inches) tall. It comes with hair ornaments, a kimono, under-clothes, socks, sandals, and a sword with an engraving of a silhouette of Asuka in her plug suit on the blade. The sword's sheath is also emblazoned with the NERV logo, and the kimono's obi sash is patterned after an AT Field.
The "Asuka Langley Shikinami with Japanese Sword" doll is available for pre-order from August 17 to September 28, 2015, with the final product shipping in January of 2016. The doll retails for 15,000 yen ($120.66 US). Additional dolls for Rei Ayanami and Mari Illustrious Makinami are also planned.
